Robin Williams’ sudden death left a void in the comedy world. Nobody can ever reproduce his brand of comedy as he was a true original. But, fans may find some comfort and laughs in a statement he made about heaven 13 years before he died.
James Lipton asked Williams what many in Hollywood might consider an inflammatory question during a 2001 interview on “Inside the Actors Studio.”
“If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?” Lipton asked the “Mork and Mindy” star.
Robins didn’t debate the belief in God. Rather, he handled the question with grace and humor, as he was known to do.
“There’s seating near the front,” Williams responded. “The concert begins at 5. It’ll be Mozart, Elvis, and one of your choosing. Or if Heaven exists to know that there is laughter.”
Of course, there is laughter in Heaven. Life is a great example of the fact that God has a sense of humor! There are plenty of examples in the Bible where Jesus also showed a sense of humor. Laughter is good for the soul so naturally, it would exist in Heaven as well.

While promoting his 1998 movie, “When Dreams May Come,” Robin Williams touched on the topic of Heaven.
“I believe in Heaven and Hell. I’ve had coming attractions of them in my dreams,” the comedian said. “There are also places right here on Earth that, if they’re not Heaven, they’re a pretty good start. Places like Thailand, Hawaii, and Montana are gloriously beautiful.”
Robin believed there are places on earth that reflect what Heaven may be like. “I believe that you have samples here on earth of Heaven,” he said.
