Mel Gibson Will Continue Comeback with “Passion” Sequel “The Resurrection!”

Christians and moviegoers are cheering Mel Gibson’s announcement that he is making a sequel to his critically successful “Passion of the Christ.”

Gibson made it clear that there will be an obvious distinction from his 2004 film. “And you know, it’s not the ‘Passion 2.’ It’s called ‘The Resurrection,’” he said.

Gibson spoke to evangelist Greg Laurie about the film:

Of course, that’s a very big subject and it needs to be looked at because we don’t want to just do a simple rendering of it — you know, read what happened… But in order to read it, experience and explore probably deeper meanings of what it’s about, it’s going to take some doing and Randall Wallace is up to the task.

In the same interview Gibson also talked about his faith and why he explores it in his films:

Faith is a real thing. I think that often times, I made the ultimate superhero film in The Passion of the Christ. Someone like Desmond Doss is also a superhero and real superheroes don’t wear spandex and they don’t have a lot of 3-D special effects. But, they do operate on a higher level, on a supernatural level. They actually look and appeal to something greater than themselves and then they do something super human.

Randall Wallace, the screenwriter for “The Passion” as well as for “The Resurrection” also spoke about the passion for the movie, “The evangelical community considers ‘The Passion’ the biggest movie ever out of Hollywood, and they kept telling us that they think a sequel will be even bigger,”

“Passion of the Christ” is an amazing movie that all Christians should see. There is a lot of violence in the movie as Christ’s passion was an excruciating experience. However, there are also scenes of serenity. One of those scenes is my absolute favorite. It depicts Jesus’s loving nature towards his mother.

Watch:

I love seeing The Son of God portrayed as a simple carpenter who loved his mother. It’s so humbling.

This is a movie I am definitely looking forward to. It will be refreshing to see instead of the uninspired remakes and other unimaginative politically correct movies.

If you want to see more of Gibson, he will return this fall for his World War II drama, “Hackshaw Ridge.”

Please share this if you will see “The Resurrection.”
