Yesterday, we reported on the backlash that was pouring in over the series finale of the hit show Yellowstone, which aired on Sunday night. Now, Yellowstone stars are responding amidst this backlash to say goodbye to the show they loved.

Kelly Reilly Sounds Off

Kelly Reilly, who played Beth Dutton on Yellowstone, is busy filming “another role” in the United Kingdom at the moment. However, despite the backlash over the series finale, she still took the time to give Yellowstone a proper goodbye on her Instagram page.

“Whatever the future holds this is the ending of the show we have been making for the past 7 years,” Reilly wrote. “Words cannot convey how I feel about the people I got to work and create with over the seasons. I have made true life long friends. The support from the crew and the trust and dedication of the cast.”

“The words I got to say and the woman I got to inhabit,” she continued. “It changed me…It lit me up. It challenged me in every way possible and I will forever be grateful for it. For Taylor Sheridan who took a chance on me and continued to write her in ways I got to feel on fire as an actor, Thank you Taylor.”

Reilly’s Message To Yellowstone Fans

Reilly concluded with a message for the Yellowstone fans, even the disgruntled ones.

“Thank you the audience we made it for, for being on this journey with us,” she wrote. “We really cared about making something special for you all…”

The “whatever the future holds” part at the beginning of Reilly’s post was seeming a reference to the Yellowstone spinoff that was recently confirmed. The spinoff is set to star Reilly’s Beth alongside the Cole Hauser’s Rip Wheeler. Hauser addressed this in a brief post as he also said his goodbye to Yellowstone.

“What a ride. What a office. See ya on the next 🇺🇸,” he simply wrote on Instagram.

Luke Grimes, who played Kayce Dutton, also broke his silence on Instagram amidst the fan backlash. Like his c0-stars, he took the high road.

“End of an era. Goodbye Kayce. You are a better man than I,” he wrote. “To my Yellowstone family, thank you for the experience of a lifetime.”

Backlash Over Yellowstone Finale

Unfortunately for Reilly, Hauser, and Grimes, however, fans made it clear that they were not happy about the way Yellowstone ended.

“That was probably the worst final season in television history,” one disgruntled fan commented. Another bluntly added, “Dumb ending #Yellowstone #YellowstoneTV.”

“It is official. Game of Thrones is no longer the worst final season of any TV show ever,” a third enraged fan went so far as to state. “Yellowstone has taken that award.”

“I felt like it was entirely too rushed. The whole season, the guys leaving, everything,” a fourth fan explained. “The plot with Jamie and the kill for hire was way to rushed, it ended way too quickly and easily. Just all around felt like it was a lazy, last minute put together.”

Even though Yellowstone may not have ended the way that many fans wanted it to, it was still one of the best shows on television for the last six years. Here’s hoping that fans can put their negative feelings aside to check out Reilly and Hauser’s spinoff when it finally airs!
