The final episode of the fifth (and what was supposed to be final) season of the hit series Yellowstone is about to air on Sunday. Rumors have been swirling for months that a Yellowstone spinoff starring Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser was in the works.
Now, much to the joy of Yellowstone fans everywhere, that spinoff has officially been confirmed!
Yellowstone Spinoff Confirmed
Sources told Deadline that the Yellowstone spinoff will star Reilly and Hauser’s respective characters Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler. It will likely feature other cast members from Yellowstone as well. Taylor Sheridan, the mastermind behind Yellowstone, is reportedly already hard at work designing the new show.
Though Yellowstone has many spinoffs, this will reportedly be the first one to have Yellowstone in its title. Insiders also say that the spinoff will be set in the same present-day time frame as the flagship series.
Rumors about a potential Yellowstone spinoff first began to swirl over the summer. Hauser made it clear that he would be very interested in taking part in it.
“If Taylor writes it, I would certainly love to do it,” Hauser told The New York Post back in September. “The cast, you know, I consider them all family. So if Taylor was to do something and bring it and put it on my table, I’m certain I would do it.”
Hauser Doubles Down
Hauser doubled down on this in another interview last month.
“You never know whether it’s coming to an end or not, so we’ll see,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “But I think what [creator] Taylor [Sheridan] wrote and the way that he kind of suited it all up, it’s wonderful and if it ends, then it ends. It’s been one hell of a run, it’s been one of my favorite jobs.”
Hauser went on to say that he would be “interested” in continuing to play Rip.
“You can go on forever about these two,” he said of Rip and Beth. “There’s no walls when it comes to them, no limits. As long as Taylor wants to write something special, I know Kelly and I would be interested to do it.”

Reilly Weighs In
As for Reilly, she’s made it clear that she’s “definitely interested” in continuing on as well.
“I am definitely interested in Beth, and who she is after some things have happened,” Reilly told Town & Country Magazine earlier in November. “Who is she in peace? As an actor you’re like, ‘Ooh, let me at that.’ Wouldn’t it be fun to watch Beth go to therapy?”
Fans got the sense that the Yellowstone spinoff might actually be happening at the end of November, when the show’s director and executive producer Christina Alexandra Voros teased “things to come” ahead of the supposed season finale.
“I think this last batch of episodes leads us to the end of an era,” Voros told Variety. “It’s impossible to talk about it in any detail without tipping my hat toward things to come.”
Yellowstone has been one of the most popular shows on television. Indeed, fans were simply not ready for it to end. That’s why we could not be more excited that the saga of Beth and Rip is far from over!
