As one of the most sensational murder cases in true crime, Amanda Knox is getting a fresh look with a notable twist. The series will be Knox’s voice, going over her arrest, her subsequent trials, and life now. Knox was jailed for four years after being wrongfully convicted, with the true suspect finally identified years later, and was formally acquitted in 2015.
Knox, the woman twice convicted and acquitted of killing her roommate, Meredith Kercher, in Italy in 2007, will serve as an executive producer.
The official logline reads. “The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox follows the eponymous American college student, who arrives in Italy for her study abroad, only to be wrongfully imprisoned for murder weeks later. The series traces Amanda’s relentless fight to prove her innocence and reclaim her freedom, and examines why authorities and the world stood so firmly in judgment.”
The eight-episode series will be streaming on Hulu on August 20. And while many have criticized the miniseries, believing Knox is trying to benefit from her notoriety, others are excited to learn more about Amanda Knox and her experience. According to creator K.J. Steinberg, the project offers a more personalized look at Knox’s infamous case and its impact.

“It seemed only appropriate to help the audience get to know her as a person before the false imprisonment, before the false accusations, before the crime, because that’s not who she is,” Steinberg said. “That is what her story became, but that’s not who she is as a human being.”
In the miniseries, The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox, the titular character will be played by Grace Van Patten, known for her roles in Nine Perfect Strangers and Tell Me Lies. Joining Patten will be Rebecca Wisocky, Sharon Horgan, John Hoogenakker, Francesco Acquaroli, Giuseppe De Domenico, and Roberta Mattei.
