So, what can we surmise from the Stranger Things season 5 trailer? It begins with Steve and Dustin using powerful radio waves to cause a fire. Along with showing some of the major storylines still being continued that were in the previous seasons, like Lucas saving Max from a hospital crawling with Demogorgons and Dustin visiting Eddie’s grave, the trailer also teases Eleven with new powers, who is seen jumping high.
There’s also a new character, Dr. Kay, played by Linda Hamilton, who is associated with Hawkins Lab, along with a team of soldiers fighting in the Upside Down. And at the end, Vecna appears; however, he has a new design that is even more terrifying.
There is a lot of speculation on what’s to come with the final season, thanks to the Stranger Things season 5 trailer, along with its poster.
The official synopsis of the final season reads, “Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished – his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming – and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone – the full party -standing together, one last time.”

As chilling as it is, fans have brought their own theories and ideas since the trailer and poster release. Season 5’s poster resembles the poster from season 1, although Will is leading the charge now, and will hopefully have a leadership role in this season. That, and Vecna is without one eye, like Eddie foreshadowed during his campaign.
Eleven is also seen looking over her shoulder, which alludes to her having to go back into hiding. But what’s interesting is that another group of fans has hinted at the reason why Eleven is looking over her shoulder. The theory is based on season 3, season 4, and season 5 posters, where certain individuals are looking over their shoulder, and thus are the targets throughout the season.
Whatever it means, this is going to be a difficult season full of shocking twists and turns, and an action-packed story that hopefully ends with a good ending.
The final season will debut in three parts. The first releases on November 26, the second on December 25, and the finale on December 31, all on Netflix.
