The cast of Stranger Things has branched out to more unique projects, like Caleb McLaughlin starring in a new Audible original. But that’s not the only member finding new hit roles. Another star, Charlie Heaton, who plays Jonathan Byers in the hit Netflix TV show, will be starring in Netflix’s Untitled Newfoundland Project.

The project, created by Jesse McKeown, also stars Josh Hartnett, who is known as Frank in The Bear, as the titular character in Lucky Number Slevin, and Ernest Lawrence in Oppenheimer.

The limited series will be set in Newfoundland, Canada, where they will also shoot the series. It’s said to have 6 episodes that follow a hard-bitten fisherman, played by Hartnett, who must fight to protect his family, his community, and his vanishing way of life when a mysterious sea creature terrorizes a remote Newfoundland town.

McKeown will be the showrunner and executive producer of the show, known for his work on the cop drama 9-12, the Hulu comedy Letterkenny, and the superhero Netflix series The Umbrella Academy, so he has an impressive history with stellar work.

Unfortunately, though, a lot of the information is being kept under wraps for this supernatural limited series. The show sounds inspired by the classic Spielberg movie, Jaws, however, with a menacing creature terrorizing a small community.

That being said, Information about Heaton’s role is still unknown. The limited series was originally announced in February 2025, and because it’s supposed to be a limited series, the show won’t be another flagship franchise like the hit Stranger Things show.
