Ryan Newman said it was a “miracle” that he survived his horrific crash at the Daytona 500 last month with just minor injuries.

Ryan Newman’s Crash

Newman crashed in the final lap of “The Great American Race” in February when his car went airborne after spinning into a wall. His vehicle was then hit in the driver’s side door by Corey LaJoie. Newman’s car burst into flames causing his fans to fear the worst.

Miraculously, Newman only had to spend two days in the hospital recovering. He was then able to walk out hand in hand with his two daughters.

Newman Discusses The Crash

During an interview with Today, Newman said that it’s “still humbling to watch it and know that I’m sitting here without a headache, which is amazing.”

Newman was knocked unconscious in the crash and was left with a “bruised brain.” However, he didn’t break any bones or suffer any other serious injuries.

“Just a miracle on so many levels, and thankful for so many people for prayers, for all the things that went into me being safer in that situation,” he added of all that has happened. “On so many levels, I feel so lucky. You look at the crash, you think that’s spectacular in a bad way. You look at the car afterwards, you think about all the things of what happened right for me to be sitting here.”

When asked why he thinks he survived the crash with no serious injuries, Newman said, “The angels aligned and held a really good grip with their hands.”

Newman Will Return To Racing

Though he does not know exactly when yet, Newman said he plans to returning to racing “as soon as I possibly can.”

Anyone who watched Newman’s crash will agree with him that he walked away with his life, much less with no serious injuries. Most people thought he was a goner when the crash occurred. It’s amazing to see how well he is doing today.

This serves as a reminder that miracles really do happen. The explanation for Newman’s survival may actually be really simple: it was in God’s plan for him to live. And, the angels worked overtime to make sure that he did.
