Prince Harry traveled back to the United Kingdom for the first time in over a year earlier this month to attend the funeral of his 99-year-old grandfather Prince Philip. While it initially seemed like Harry’s visit was a smooth one, it is now being reported that he actually snubbed the royal family multiple times during his time there.

Prince Harry Snubs Royal Family

The U.K. Express reported that Harry rarely left Frogmore Cottage during the nine days he was in the U.K., and while he met with his father Prince Charles for a private two-hour talk, he did not make time to see Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their children.

“Harry didn’t get to see [Prince] George, [Princess] Charlotte and [Prince] Louis in the UK,” a source said. “Aside from the day of Philip’s funeral and meeting privately with the Queen, he was in isolation at Frogmore.”

While Harry did meet privately with the Queen, he did not extend his trip to celebrate her 95th birthday last Wednesday. Instead he flew home to California the day before her birthday.

This raised some eyebrows from around the world, as it seems like it would have been simple enough for Harry to extend his trip a day or two to celebrate his grandmother’s birthday.

The Queen’s Difficult Birthday

The Queen certainly could have used some love from her grandson on this birthday. It was her first one since losing her husband of 73 years on April 9.

“I have, on the occasion of my 95th birthday today, received many messages of good wishes, which I very much appreciate. While as a family we are in a period of great sadness, it has been a comfort to us all to see and to hear the tributes paid to my husband, from those within the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and around the world,” she said on her birthday in a rare personal statement, according to Harper’s Bizarre.

“My family and I would like to thank you for all the support and kindness shown to us in recent days,” the Queen added. “We have been deeply touched, and continue to be reminded that Philip had such an extraordinary impact on countless people throughout his life.”

Royal writer Daniela Elser has accused the duke of no longer caring about his homeland.

She wrote in an article for news.com.au: “After more than a year away, a year that has seen perhaps irreparable damage done to the fabric of the house of Windsor, that Harry chose not to be there for Her Majesty this week is hard to swallow.”

“It was reported ahead of her birthday that she would enjoy a private lunch, possibly with the family members who live closest to Windsor Castle, namely the Duke of York and the Earl and Countess of Wessex.”

“That Harry was not part of that number is significant.”

Sources told Page Six that Prince Harry dined with media heiress Wallis Annenberg on Wednesday at super-exclusive Hollywood club San Vicente Bungalows. Make of that what you will…

Royal Rift After Interview

The rift between Prince Harry and the royal family is wider than ever in the wake of his and Meghan’s explosive tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey that aired last month.

During the interview, Harry and Meghan made a series of shocking claims about the royal family, including that they were victims of racism from within it.

Prince Harry is scheduled to return to the U.K. in July for the unveiling of a statue dedicated to his late mother Princess Diana at Kensington Palace.

However, royal commentator Angela Levin remarked on Twitter today that his “actions have consequences.”

It remains to be seen whether he will be on better terms with the royal family by then. Or if Prince Harry will in fact make the trip.
