Things got tense on Tuesday’s episode of “The View” when conservative cohost Meghan McCain confronted 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren about the way she has described Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, who was killed in a U.S. airstrike last Friday.

Meghan McCain Confronts Elizabeth Warren On Soleimani

Fox News reported that when Warren appeared on the ABC talk show, McCain took issue with the way she has described Soleimani, who was responsible for the deaths of over 600 Americans.

“This is a man who is obviously responsible for hundreds of American troops’ deaths, carnage, we can’t even imagine,” McCain said. “The Treasury Department and the State Department have both designated the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization — I don’t understand the flip flop. I don’t understand why it was so hard to call him a terrorist.”

McCain then pointed out that Warren had referred to Soleimani as a “murderer” and later described his death as an assassination.

Elizabeth Warren Responds To Meghan McCain

“This isn’t a change,” Warren said of the two statements she made. “They’re truth. The question is: what is the response that the president of the United States should make and what advances the interests of the United States of America,”

Warren went on to reference former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, who she acknowledged was a “bad guy” but didn’t warrant the United States going to war.

“Going to war in Iraq was not in the interest of the United States,” Warren said. “We lost thousands of American lives. It cost us here at home. It has cost us around the war.”

McCain Refuses To Back Down

Not backing down, McCain kept asking Warren if she thought Soleimani was a terrorist.

After saying twice that Soleimani was “part of a group” designated as terrorists, Warren finally backed down and admitted that “of course” Soleimani was a terrorist himself.

It’s clear why Warren and her fellow Democrats are reluctant to describe Soleimani as a terrorist. It’s because doing so would force them to admit that Trump actually did something good in taking him out.

We applaud McCain for having the guts to confront Warren to her face about trying to downplay Qassem Soleimani’s atrocities for her own political gain. And for finally getting the 2020 Democrat to admit that Soleimani was indeed a terrorist.
