After 25 years and almost 7,000 episodes, the hit series signed off in 2021. But thankfully, she wasn’t done. The TV’s daytime super judge has expanded her justice universe to Amazon Prime Video with the new Justice on Trial series.

So what is the new series about? Justice on Trial puts the American court system on trial. Judge Sheindlin and her team of legal experts recreate trials from notorious cases in American history where the letter of the law dictates that “justice” doesn’t always feel “just”.

“Everybody, whether legally trained or not, has opinions about legal cases from the O.J. Simpson trial to whether the Menendez brothers should be paroled,” Sheindlin spoke about her show to USA Today. “Be recreating cases, it gives an entertaining way to see if justice was served.”

This fast-paced recreation of the famed crimes sees Judge Sheindlin act as the lower court judge, while her “Tribunal Justice” judges Tanya Acker, Patricia DiMango, and Adam Levy preside over all appeals court cases. Real-life veteran trial lawyers Daniel Mentzer and Larry Bakman also appear.

Excited to see Judge Judy’s opinions on these cases? You can watch season 1 with all eight episodes of Justice on Trial now on Prime Video. The Amazon Original series is available to all Amazon Prime Video members.

Some of the stories include episode 2: “Burying Rights” (Ohio v. Dixon), where Archie Dixon confesses to brutally murdering his roommate and burying him alive to profit from selling his car. The case focuses on whether police tactics crossed the line between lawful interrogation and coercion.

Along with that is Episode 6: “Killer, but not a liar” (People v. Turriago), where troopers stopped Leonardo Turriago for a speeding violation on the New York State Thruway, which led police to a grim discovery in the back of his truck: a decomposing body. But was the search of the truck legal?

The brutal true crime courtroom show, Justice on Trial, is available now on Amazon Prime.
