Fixer Upper is an HGTV fan favorite. Many people appreciate Chip and Joanna Gaines’ approach to not only rehabbing and decorating a house but also to their approach to life and their own relationship. So when it was recently announced they will be leaving the show after this season, many fans were a bit heartbroken.
There have been lots of rumors about Chip and Joanna Gaines’ marriage in the past few months. In their first TV interview since making the announcement about Fixer Upper’s end, they discuss the real reason why they decided to move onto life without their hit show. Apparently, some of the rumors were right. Filming this show is hard on a marriage.
“Look, I’ll give [the rumors] a little credence,” Chip said. “For us, the most important thing in the world is Jo and I’s relationship followed very quickly by these four beautiful kids [of ours]. We didn’t want to push it, to redline it for so long that we woke up and realized we are at a point of no return. We wanted to take a step back and focus on what is absolutely the most important thing to us.”
But, there isn’t a need to be concerned. The Gaineses have their priorities straight. “People in our inner circle, I tell them we’re as healthy as we’ve ever been. I just didn’t want to keep pushing this envelope to the fullest extent. We’re really thankful that we had the opportunity to step back and take a break,” Chip followed up in the video below.
This is a quite understandable decision. They need to balance their business and home life and just couldn’t strike the proper balance while continuing the show. Chip and Joanna Gaines certainly have their priorities straight.
