After so much abuse, Kurt Angle requires major surgery on his neck. Also, WWE had to nix a huge feud in NXT UK.

Kurt Angle Requires Major Surgery

When Kurt Angle joined WWE, he was already battling injuries. As he famously put, he won a gold medal with ‘broken freakin neck.’

Unfortunately, a career in pro wrestling would not help matters. On several occasions, Angle’s neck took more abuse and it ended up being broken again.

Now that the WWE Hall of Famer is retired, he lives each in pain. During The Kurt Angle Show, the Olympic Gold medalist revealed he needs fusion neck surgery.

“Well, my neck is not that great,” said Angle. “I have a lot of motor skill problems in my hands and in my fingers because of my neck.”

“Numbness down my arms. I have a lot of pain in my neck.”

“I’ve been putting off fusion surgery for gosh, 15 years, and I may not be able to put it off much longer. I’m going to eventually have to have fusion surgery.”

“I have had the quick-fix surgeries just so that I could get back in the ring again, and you know, the last one I did, I think, was 2015. But I’m going to eventually have to have fusion surgery; I’ve just been putting it off.”

Kurt Angle And Final WWE Run

Angle famously left WWE because of dispute with Vince McMahon. He would join Impact Wrestling before retuning to WWE a few years back.

At WrestleMania 35, Angle lost to Baron Corbin in his retirement bout. He would stick around WWE before being let go as part of the major budget cuts over the past year.

WWE did offer him another job as a manager to Matt Riddle, but he turned them down. Regardless, the two parties seem to be on good terms.

AEW actually offered a contract to come work with them and wrestle a few more matches. Impact Wrestling apparently had a similar deal.

Although, Angle turned down both companies.

WWE Nixed Huge Feud

There was lots of talk about WWE brining back Harry Smith. Then, we learned they actually signed him back in April when he inducted his late father into the WWE Hall of Fame.

So far, he has only competed in dark matches. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE had a major feud planned for the second generation wrestler.

He was to join NXT UK and feud with their World Champion WALTER. Because of COVID, that never happened at NXT UK was paused for about a year.

There is no word on if Smith will join one of the NXT brands or go right to the main roster. With the Draft coming up, that could be a way WWE reintroduces him on either RAW or SmackDown.

This is Smith’s second run in WWE. His first stint went from 2006 to 2011. After less than a month on the main roster, he was suspended for violating the Wellness Policy.

He would eventually return with familiar names in Tyson Kidd and Natalya. They would capture tag team gold before Smith was let go in 2011.

Since then, Smith has worked around the world making a name for himself. AEW showed interest, but ultimately he re-signed with WWE.
