Taylor Swift is truly a powerhouse. Whether you’re a fan of the superstar or not, you can’t deny that she is a machine. And now all that hard work has paid off, as Taylor Swift makes history by becoming the first female artist to sell over 100 million albums.
On Tuesday, September 30th, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) confirmed that Swift has become the first and only female artist to surpass 100 million certified album sales. This is a massive, once-in-a-generation milestone, and an achievement she hit only days before her next album release, The Life of a Showgirl.
This record puts her on the same level as some of the greats, including the Beatles with 183 million, Garth Brooks with 162 million, Elvis Presley with 146.5 million, and The Eagles with 120 million.
With Swift’s determination and work ethic, it’s no shock to see her alongside such incredible names. The megastar has been working tirelessly to produce moving music, stunning tours, and secrets and hints to keep fans intrigued.
Swift’s top-selling albums include,
- 1989 (2014): 14 million
- Fearless (2008): 11 million
- Red (2012): 8 million
- Taylor Swift (2006): 8 million
- The Tortured Poets Department (2024): 8 million
And with her next album, The Life of a Showgirl, we can’t even begin to imagine where this will take her. The album drops Friday, October 3, and she’s marking the release with a three-day, cinema-style event for fans.
“I hereby invite you to a dazzling soiree,” Swift wrote on Instagram. “You’ll get to see the exclusive world premiere of the music video of my new single The Fate of Ophelia, along with never-before-seen behind-the-scenes footage… and the brand new lyric videos from my new album.”
Along with her release, Taylor Swift also announced that she has limited-edition albums for those who want collectibles. Target will offer a dazzling pink edition, The Life of a Showgirl: The Crowd is Your King edition on Summertime Spritz Pink Shimmer vinyl. For the release, many Targets are opening at midnight so fans can get their hands on the album as soon as possible.
Swifties know that with this incredible record, Taylor Swift is surely not slowing down. She’s been a phenomenal performer and artist, and will likely keep dominating the music industry for several more years.
