Fans are feeling very excited today after the singer Taylor Swift announced that she is engaged to the Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Now, new details about their engagement have been revealed.
Swift And Kelce Engaged
Swift, 35, took to Instagram to announce her engagement to Kelce, also 35.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” Swift wrote alongside a series of photos showing Kelce proposing to her in a garden full of flowers.
The post was set to “So High School,” which is a song off of Swift’s “Tortured Poets Department” album. Swift reportedly wrote the song about Kelce. Indeed, it includes the line, “You know how to ball, I know Aristotle.”
Kelce has previously said that “So High School” is his favorite song off this album. However, he was quick to also admit that he “might be a little biased.”
Kelce Designed Swift’s Ring
Kelce reportedly proposed with a ring that he personally designed with Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry. The breathtakingly beautiful ring is an “Old Mine brilliant cut.”
Lubeck’s official bio states that she’s “a goldsmith, hand engraver, and vintage jewelry collector” who creates one-of-a-kind pieces in New York. She reportedly decided to become a jeweler after once being “told that she would never be a jewelry designer.” Just to prove these naysayers wrong, Lubeck decided to become a jeweler anyway.
That’s the kind of bold response to adversity that Swift can definitely get behind!
Jewelry experts are already raving about the ring.
“This style is called a bezel setting (that’s the gold that wraps around the diamond) and it’s super popular right now, just like yellow gold in general,” George Khalife, known professionally as George the Jeweler, told Daily Mail. “The whole look feels really antique, which I think suits Taylor perfectly.”
Khalife went on to say that he believes the ring “looks close to 20 carats or more and would be valued between 3.5 to 5 million dollars.”
“Because it’s set in yellow gold, it’s a little harder to tell the exact color, but I’d guess it’s at least F or G color with VVS clarity,” he explained.
Nilesh Rakholia, jewelry expert and founder of Abelini, went so far as to describe it as being “among the most iconic celebrity engagement rings.”
“What makes this design particularly striking is its blend of vintage charm and modern minimalism,’ Rakholia said. “The choice of yellow gold nods to antique inspirations, giving the ring a romantic, heirloom-like quality.”
Swift And Kelce’s History
Swift and Kelce went public with their relationship in September of 2023. Earlier this month, Kelce gushed about the early days of their romance when Swift appeared on his New Heights podcast.
“She blew me away,” Kelce recalled at the time. “I had never experienced something so mesmerizing on stage and then something so real and so beautiful in person.”
Over the past two years, Kelce and Swift have become arguably the most popular couple in the world. While no date has been set, their wedding is sure to be one for the ages. We’d like to congratulate both Swift and Kelce, and wish them many years of happiness together to come!
