The singer Adele is one of the most popular singers in the world at the moment. That’s why it’s come as a massive shock and disappointment to her fans that she’s just announced that she’s taking a “big break” from music.

Adele Announces ‘Big Break’ From Music

“I don’t have any plans for new music at all,” Adele, 36, revealed on Sunday. She added that she wants “a big break after this and I think I want to do other creative things, just for a little while.”

“I don’t like being famous,” she explained. “I love that I get to make music all the time.”

Readers may find that complaint to be a little silly, but it seems to be more common among stars than we think. Just look at Ben Affleck!

After gaining fame for her studio albums and her wonderful addition to James Bond lore, Adele began her Las Vegas residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace back in November of 2022. Her final show in this residency is scheduled for November 23.

Before that, Adele is set to do ten shows at the Open Air Arena in Munich between August 2 and August 31.

After she announced the end of her Vegas residency, Adele talked about how much it had meant to her.

“This residency, these shows have changed my life,” she wrote on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. “I desperately needed to fall back in love with performing live again, and I have. I needed to reconnect with my songs and remember what they mean to me, and I have!”

“Being onstage over the last year so up close and personal with an audience again after all these years has been a truly extraordinary restorative experience that I’ll never forget,” she continued. “All the hilarious, soulful, wild and heartbreaking interactions we’ve had are banked in my mind for life.”

Adele Has No Plans To Make New Music

Adele has released four albums at this point in her career. These albums are “19” (2008), “21” (2011), “25” (2015) and “30” (2021).

Back in December, however, Adele told The Hollywood Reporter that she has no plans to release new music anytime soon.

“I get nervous about wearing my voice out [at the residency]. It’s a lot of singing,” she said. Adele then pointed out that it’s “two hours. It’s all live. It’s a lot.”

Adele’s Surprising ‘Dream Job’

In this same interview, Adele surprisingly revealed that being a script reader would be her “dream job.”

“I don’t want to build my own things, I want to work with something,” she stated. “I don’t want to create something… That’s how I feel.”

“That’s what I’d actually love. People think it’s hilarious, and they don’t take me seriously,” she continued. “And I often say to my manager, ‘I think I could make some really great stuff, I want to be really successful at something.’ And he’s like, ‘What?!’ I was like, ‘I know, but [music] is my hobby. I just fell into it and then it just happened. I want to be in TV and behind the scenes.'”

When she isn’t working, Adele is focused on spending time with her 10-year-old son Angelo, who she shares with her ex-husband Simon Konecki. For the past three years, Adele has been dating the sports agent Rich Paul.

Adele is one of the most talented vocalists alive today. While she certainly deserves a break, we hope that she doesn’t end up staying away from music for too long!
