A24, the production and distribution studio, announced that they will bring 2025’s biggest international box office hit back to theaters, and confirmed that Ne Zha 2 is getting an English dub.

The company behind amazing movies like Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022), Uncut Gems (2019), and Hereditary (2018) has announced their next stunning project, and fans couldn’t be more excited. Ne Zha 2, sequel to the 2019 animated movie Ne Zha, sits atop the 2025 worldwide box office with nearly $1.9 billion in theatrical receipts.
It’s by far the most profitable animated movie ever, and one of the biggest box-office earners of all time. It’s also one of the highest-grossing non-English-language films in history. But thankfully, A24 didn’t want us to miss out, as Ne Zha 2 is getting an English dub.
The announcement says it will return the film to “theaters across the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand,” in 3D and IMAX releases, starting on August 22.
It’s also been confirmed that Michelle Yeoh, known for her role as Evelyn Wang in Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022) and as Madame Morrible in Wicked (2024), is part of the voice cast, although the role has not be disclosed.
When asked about her part in Ne Zha 2 English dub, Yeoh says, “I’m honored to be part of Ne Zha 2, a landmark in Chinese animation and a powerful reminder of how universal our stories can be.”
“Sharing this audience in English is such a joy, and I can’t wait for everyone to experience the world, heart, spectacular artistry, and magic of this film on the big screen.”
So what can you expect now that Ne Zha 2 is getting an English dub? The story follows the adventures of a rebellious young boy, Ne Zha, who is feared by the gods, having been born to mortal parents with wild, uncontrolled powers. Faced with an ancient force intent on destroying humanity, he must grow up to become the hero the world needs.
