The Hollywood star Kevin Costner of “Yellowstone” fame may be turning 70 next year, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t still have it as a romantic leading man! The A-list Avengers star Chris Hemsworth just made this abundantly clear when he revealed that Costner recently cast himself in a romantic leading role over him.
Hemsworth Sounds Off
“There was a movie, a script that I’d read and loved and was like, ‘I want to get that,’ and then someone said, ‘Kevin Costner has that [role],'” Hemsworth, 40, told Entertainment Tonight last week.
“I’d love [to have] him as a director,” he continued. “I was like, ‘Goddamnit!’ [I spent] an hour the other day trying to convince him and he was like, ‘I’m doing it, kid.’ Didn’t work. I didn’t get the part.”
Hemsworth went on to say that the project was an “abstract and interesting” film that is “a small story about a man and a woman.”
“It’s better seen in his wheelhouse for sure, as far as the kind of Western environment. There’s horses involved, he’s a horse wrangler, and my wife read it and loves horses,” Hemsworth added. “We have 10 or 11 horses back home and so she’s like, ‘You’ve got to do this.'”
Costner Responds
Costner responded to this by saying that Hemsworth will just have to “wait his turn” because “as long as I’m still young enough to play it, I’ll play it.”
That being said, Costner made it clear that he’s still a fan of Hemsworth.
“He’s so handsome and he’s so good,” he gushed. “He’s going to have to go find his [own] love story. [But] I’m glad he likes this one. If I reach a moment where I [don’t] think I could do that, I would [reach out]. He’s certainly one of our great leading men right now.”

Costner Isn’t Slowing Down
Though Costner will be turning 70 in January of next year, he is showing no signs of slowing down. Part one of Costner’s planned four-part Civil War-era Western epic Horizon: An American Saga is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival next month, and he’s very excited for this pro-American story to be told.
“When I think about the promise of America, there was a promise out here, if you could go,” Costner told Fox Business. “If you were tough enough, if you were mean enough, if you were resourceful enough, if you were lucky enough, you could take what you wanted in America.”
“That promise meant that we step on a whole group of people who had been here for thousands of years,” he added. “But that’s what happened in America. … I don’t pass judgment because I don’t want to look down on people’s resourcefulness.”

Potential ‘Yellowstone’ Return
Costner is also open to returning to the show “Yellowstone” for its sixth and final season, which is scheduled to return in November.
“I’d like to be able to do it, but we haven’t been able to,” Costner said, according to Daily Mail. “I thought I was going to make seven [seasons] but right now we’re at five. So how it works out — I hope it does — but they’ve got a lot of different shows going on. Maybe it will. Maybe this will circle back to me.”
“If it does and I feel really comfortable with [it], I’d love to do it,” he concluded.
Hollywood is a place that praises youth over everything, but it’s clear that Costner still has what it takes to be a dashing leading man. God bless him for having the guts to keep showing the world that age really is just a number!
