The reason why this story is so valuable to me is that it hits close to home.
My sister, who is now 48-years-old, was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when she was a baby. My father adopted my sister when she was an infant, so when she was brought to the house, she had iron braces around her legs. As I remember my father telling the story, the doctors told my sister she would never walk, and to prepare for the worst.
My father, the pastor, prayed every day and every night. There wasn’t one day out of the week that he didn’t lay his hands on her legs and pray to God to heal my sister. One day, the braces came off and she was able to walk. My sister was never able to truly play games with other kids, but she was able to walk on her own for the rest of her life.
The little angel in the video below reminded me of my sister, hence, I wanted to share this with you.

Esme Hodge, from Bristol, England, was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and spastic diaplegia last year and until recently could only get around with the assistance of a wheelchair.
But in September she traveled to the U.S. for an operation to fix her spine and last Sunday she took her very first steps.
Despite doctors’ estimations of a 6-12 month recovery period, Esme has defied the odds, walking to Santa and declaring: “Look Santa, I can walk!”
Check out this amazing video below:
My sister’s name is Emily, and the little girl in the video is named Esme. Both situations defied the odds, and you can only imagine what that does to a parent. Let’s not forget the man of the hour, Santa Claus, who was amazed at the little girl miraculously walking towards him, all by herself.
Some people ask me if I believe in miracles, and my answer is yes. I’ve seen my share of miracles in life, but these two are especially important to me!
Christmas miracles are incredibly special, and Esme’s ability to walk up to Santa is truly wonderful! Santa Claus usually brings joy to children across the world, but in this situation, it was Esme who brought Santa some joy!
If you loved this story as much as I did, make sure to share it with all your friends and family this Christmas season!
