Mark Wahlberg, Boston Marathon

Mark Wahlberg isn’t your typical Hollywood A-Lister. The actor is proud of his blue collar roots and never loses touch with them.

The Boston native is proud to be a devout Catholic. He often attends Church not once, but twice on Sundays. His early life was spent consumed with drugs, but a discovery of his faith led him to a cleaner life.

Wahlberg’s faith grounds him and it shows in how he treats others. He is especially appreciative of his fans with disabilities. And he gave one fan the thrill of a lifetime while filming “Patriot’s Day” in Boston.

Jackie Becker suffered brain damage as a child when she got encephalitis from a mosquito bite. Movies and movie stars became a big part of Jackie’s life after she got sick, since she was sidelined from doing so many activities.

She and her mom went to observe the filming of “Patriot’s Day,” a movie about the 2013 bombings at the Boston Marathon. They were just hoping for a glimpse of the star, so they were shocked when he invited them to his trailer.

Wahlberg also invited Jackie and her mom to the “Patriot’s Day” premiere. Jackie now considers it the best day of her life!

This is not the only kind gesture from Wahlberg this week. Before the Boston Marathon, he went to surprise Spaulding Rehab Hospital’s Boston Marathon Runners. These runners are comprised of former patients and their families.

This rehab hospital helped victims after the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.

There aren’t many in Hollywood quite like Mark Wahlberg! He’s definitely not a limousine liberal.

Who is your favorite movie star?
