A South African woman is being lauded as a hero after fighting back against an attempted carjacking in her own driveway, but she is dismissing all the praise. She claims she only did what she had to do to protect her daughter.
While shopping at a mall, the Alberton woman, who is staying anonymous out of fear for her family’s safety, was noticed by the men who followed her home. They actually tracked her to three locations before making their move against her and her child.
When she pulled her SUV into her driveway, they quickly pulled their white Nissan in behind her before she could shut the gate. Suddenly, the men jumped out of their car and pulled guns on the woman and her child. The mom turned up the radio to protect her daughter from hearing the sounds of their threats and their guns. She told her daughter the glass would not break and she pushed the panic button.
Even when police say they are on the way, seconds matter when you are in a situation like this. Video cameras show their dogs on the balcony unable to escape to defend them. As her teenager became more panicked, she decided to take matters into her own hands.
The fast-acting mom used her car as a weapon. She threw her vehicle into reverse to push the hijackers’ car into the street. She planned to push them close the gate but instead, she continued ramming their car, forcing them to flee by foot.
Thanks to her fast actions and video cameras, the suspects were apprehended two days later when they were attempting to attack someone else! Still, the woman dismisses any praise by saying, “I am not a hero!” She was just doing right by her child.
You can watch this woman refuse to be a victim in the video below.
