Sandra Bullock was on Red Table Talk, a show hosted by Jada Pinkett-Smith. Bullock discussed being a mother and what has changed with how she parents versus how her parents did

“My parents couldn’t say ‘I’m sorry,'” Bullock recalled. “It was a generational thing. It was something that I now, in retrospect, can see their pain and their fear.”

I can understand this sentiment. I feel past generations were taught to bottle in their emotions at all costs. To all of our detriments, to be honest. But as soon as Sandra had me agreeing with her, she lost me pretty quickly:

“My superpower is that I’m good at saying sorry and I’m good at listening,” she explained.

Being A Nice Person Isn’t A Superpower

I’m sorry to tell you this, Sandra – you’re amazing and I love all your movies – but “good at listening” is not a superpower.

Plus, anyone who says they are good at listening probably isn’t. This is on par with people calling themselves “empaths.”

Now saying sorry? Yes, that is something that I think most people are pretty bad at. But still, it is odd when people take basic humanity and make it seem it is some sort of extraordinary ability.

Sandra Bullock Can Say Sorry For Being Rude In A Single Bound!

Call me old-fashioned, but it used to be that being a decent person was enough on its own. You didn’t feel compelled by society to broadcast it everywhere.

Most people are trying their best.

They aren’t always the best listeners or the kindest, but most people try their best to get along in this world. So maybe that’s what Sandra Bullock is doing.

Regardless, she seems like a fairly (for Hollywood) down-to-earth person who is a great mother to her adopted children.

What’s Sandra Bullock Been Up To?

Bullock recently starred in The Unforgivable, where she played a woman trying to rebuild her life after serving time in prison. The movie was panned by critics and did not do well at the box office.

If you haven’t seen the movie that hit #1 on Netflix and stars Viola Davis alongside Bullock yet, here’s a quick preview:

Let’s talk for a moment to admire Sandra Bullock. She’s probably one of the most versatile actresses in Hollywood.

She can play drama and slap-stick comedy on par with any actor male or female. Plus she’s naturally funny.

She made The Blindside and All About Steve both in 2010. Winning the Oscar and the Golden Raspberry (think the reverse) Oscar in the same year.

Now that is range.

And to show what a great sport she is, Sandra Bullock actually showed up to RECEIVE her Golden Raspberry Award:
