Last month, we reported that the cooking sensation and talk show host Rachael Ray, 56, had admitted to having “huge screaming matches” with her husband John Cusimano, who she’s been married to since 2005. This came after weeks of concerns over the health of Ray, who was seen slurring her words back in September.
Now, Ray is opening up about how she copes with “dark days.”
How Ray Copes With ‘Dark Days’
In the latest episode of her podcast “I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead,” Ray revealed that she leans on her dog to get through the tough times in life. Ray lamented that she’s been “bashed” for decades for never having children. However, her “unconditional love” for dogs has helped her through a lot.
“It just brings you a ray of life,” Ray explained. “What it bring to a human, that unconditional love, it really gets you through dark days.”
“For me, if I have the worst day, or sick as a dog, the things that makes me feel best, go home, climb into bed with a blanket with my dog!” she continued.
Ray is a proud dog mom to Bella Boo Blue. She adopted the dog back in June of 2020.
Ray adopted this dog one month after she lost her beloved pitbull Isaboo, who often appeared on The Rachael Ray Show. She and her husband had gotten Isaboo from a shelter years ago.
After Isaboo’s death, Ray and Cusimano mourned her as “a pitbull who taught us more about unconditional love, empathy, and understanding of one another than we could have ever imagined.”
“We will open our home and our hearts to another animal in need, because that is what Izzy would want,” they added. “We’ll miss her sense of humor. Her Wile E. Coyote-ness. Her energy and her game-on attitude. She was a fighter. “

Fears For Ray’s Health
This comes as fears have been growing for Ray’s health. This all started back in September, when she took to Instagram to post a video honoring the late singer Tony Bennett.
Fans responded by saying that Ray was “slurring” her speech in the video. Some questioned if she was drunk, while others thought she might be on a medication or suffering from a health condition.
“Is she slurring or am I slurring,” one fan commented. Another added, “I love you but are you ok? I’m seriously concerned.”
“Rachel is in a bit of trouble?! I hope someone is just as concerned as I am?” a third fan wrote. A fourth person questioned, “What the heck is wrong with her? Messy hair, slurring words….wow just wow …”

Ray Admits Her ‘Time Might Be Shorter’
Ray added to these fears for her health in her latest podcast episode when she admitted that her “time might be shorter.” That’s why she “gets up at 4 o’clock in the morning.”
“I’ve gotten worse as I’ve gotten older, because I feel like time might be shorter, and I want my time to be more, every minute of it,” she stated.
Last month, Ray cryptically spoke out to dsicuss “sad things that happen to you.”
“That’s the beauty of life,” she said. “You have to learn, and I think this is a big talking point for living a long life and having a long life and having a career, is you have to learn to understand when things are sad and what everything means ultimately to your choices.”
“Not everything that feels bad is bad,” Ray continued. “Sometimes things that happen to you that from the outside look sad, they also help you propel forward and understand other people.”
Ray has yet to directly address the fears for her health. Please join us in saying a prayer for Ray moving forward.
