The country music star Morgan Wallen has officially completed his comeback. Indeed, he will be performing on Saturday Night Live! at the end of this month for the first time since 2020. This comes after Wallen was nearly “cancelled” for being caught saying racial slurs in 2021.
Wallen Returns To Saturday Night Live!
Wallen, 31, will be the musical guest on the March 29 episode of Saturday Night Live! His episode will be hosted by Mikey Madison, who just won the Best Actress Oscar for her work in the Best Picture winner Anora.
Wallen has not performed on Saturday Night Live! since he made his debut on the NBC sketch comedy show in December of 2020. In this episode, Wallen appeared in a sketch with host Jason Bateman of Arrested Development and Ozark fame.

Wallen’s Scandal
This comes after a difficult few years for Wallen. In February of 2021, Wallen was caught on camera saying racial slurs as he returned home from a drunken night out with friends. This resulted in Wallen being blacklisted by the music industry for a period of time. Indeed, it was unclear at one point if Wallen’s career would ever recover, or if he would be cancelled for good.
“There’s no excuse. I’ve never made an excuse. I never will make an excuse,” Wallen later told Billboard of this incident.
Wallen attempted to make amends by meeting with black leaders and hearing their stories.
“I’ve talked to a lot of people, heard stories [about] things that I would have never thought about because I wasn’t the one going through it,” he said. “And I think, for me, in my heart I was never that guy that people were portraying me to be, so there was a little bit of like, ‘Damn, I’m kind of actually mad about this a little bit because I know I shouldn’t have said this, but I’m really not that guy.’”
“I put myself in just such a [expletive] spot, you know?” Wallen concluded. “Like, ‘You really messed up here, guy.’ If I was that guy, then I wouldn’t have cared. I wouldn’t have apologized. I wouldn’t have done any of that if I really was that guy that people were saying about me.”
Wallen’s Arrest
Just when it seemed like Wallen was finally overcoming this scandal, he was arrested in April of 2024. This came after he allegedly threw a chair from a rooftop bar in Nashville. The chair landed right by multiple police officers, nearly hitting them.
In December, Wallen was sentenced to one week at a DUI education center. He was also sentenced to two years of probation, one for each of the reckless endangerment misdemeanor charges that he was hit with. Should Wallen complete the terms of his probation with no issue, he will be eligible to have the charges dismissed and expunged from his record.

Wallen is clearly now trying to put all of this behind him. His new album “I’m The Problem” is set to come out in May. Wallen will then be going on tour for the summer starting in June.
Wallen appearing on Saturday Night Live! seems to be another example of him turning over a new leaf. He’s one of the most talented people in country music today. That’s why we can only hope that his days of being embroiled in disturbing scandals are over!
