Over the past few months, rumors have been swirling that the singer Miley Cyrus is in a bitter feud with both her parents, the country music star Billy Ray Cyrus and his ex-wife Tish Cyrus. Now, Miley has finally broken her silence to directly address these rumors.
Miley Sounds Off
Last week, it was reported that Tish, 57, had unfollowed Miley, 32, on Instagram. Tish claimed that this was a mistake, and she immediately re-followed Miley. On Saturday, Miley took to her Instagram Story to corroborate this.
“I rarely comment on rumors, but my mama and I are too tight for anything to ever come between us,” Miley wrote. “She’s my best friend. Like a lot of moms, she doesn’t know how to work her phone and somehow unfollowed me — simple, coincidental, and uninteresting.”
Miley went on to touch on her relationship with her father Billy Ray, 63, who she’s been known to be estranged from in the past.
“My dad and I have had our challenges over the years,” she wrote. “Now, in my 30s, [my] family is my priority above all else. I’m at peace knowing bridges have been built and time has done a lot of healing. Grateful for the good health and love that flows through my family.”

Billy Ray Responds
The next day, on Mother’s Day, Billy Ray took to his own Instagram page to discuss where he currently stands with his family.
“I too rarely comment on rumors… but on this given day… I give you my truth,” Billy Ray wrote. “I’m so proud of Miley and her guts and her courage… her wisdom and strength to bring it when our family needed it most. We are so close to a full healing.”
“We have all been through a lot,” he continued. “On this Mother’s Day I would like to testify to a couple facts. 1) I still very much believe in the power of prayer and respectfully ask if you do also … and have an extra prayer for the CYRUS Family… I humbly would accept.”
Billy Ray went on to address Tish, who he was married to from 1993 until they divorced in 2022. They are parents to Miley along with four other children: Brandi Cyrus, 37, Trace Cyrus, 36, Braison Cyrus, 31, and Noah Cyrus, 25.
“Tish Cyrus was and is the very definition of a strong mother,” Billy Ray added. “Trust me I’m the first to admit… being married to me was not easy. I’m very good at making mistakes. A very imperfect man.”
Tish Speaks Out
As for Tish, she’s confirmed that unfollowing Miley was an accident.
“I would never unfollow Miley, her and I are as close as we’ve always been. Period,” she wrote on social media.
Both Tish and Billy Ray have moved on with other people since their 2022 split. Tish married Dominic Purcell in 2023. That same year, Billy Ray married the singer Firerose, but they divorced in 2024. Last month, Billy Ray went public with his relationship with the former Austin Powers actress Elizabeth Hurley.
Life is too short to hold grudges, particularly when it comes to family. In the end, we’re glad that the Cyrus family seems to be mending fences with one another!
