Yesterday, we reported that Miley Cyrus and her siblings have had some harsh “Come-to-Jesus” criticism for their country music star father Billy Ray Cyrus.

Let’s just say, the family patriarch Billy Ray is not exactly taking kindly to it.

Billy Ray Breaks His Silence

On Sunday, Billy Ray, 63, took to YouTube to share a clip from his 2009 music video for his song “Somebody Said a Prayer.” The video starred Billy Ray’s son Trace, 35, who just called out his father in a lengthy Instagram post, saying that he is “genuinely worried” about him.

“Sunday callin,” Billy Ray captioned his YouTube short. “Giving thanks for the California Rain . Praying for the brokenhearted and their pain. Praying for my family. For my children … sons and daughters…and their mother. Let this moment be the start of healing for us all. ‘The past does not equal the future.’ Amen.”

It’s hard to tell just what emotions he was meaning to convey, but it’s clear that he – at the very least – disagrees with his family members.

Trace Sounds Off

Billy Ray adopted both Trace and his older sister Brandi, 37, when he married their mother Tish, 57, back in 1993. He and Tish went on to later have three more children: Miley, 32, Braisson, 30, and Noah, 25. Billy Ray and Tish then divorced in 2022.

Four out of the five Cyrus siblings are now estranged from Billy Ray, with Braisson being the only one still on speaking terms with him. Indeed, Brandi, Miley, and Noah all reportedly “signed off” on Trace’s January 23 Instagram post in which he called out Billy Ray.

“Since my earliest memories all I can remember is being obsessed with you and thinking you were the coolest person ever,” Trace wrote. “I wanted to be just like you. The day you adopted me was the happiest day of my life. Sadly the man that I wanted so desperately to be just like I barely recognize now. It seems this world has beaten you down and it’s become obvious to everyone but you.”

‘I’m Still Here’

Trace went on to say that he and “the girls have been genuinely worried about you for years but you’ve pushed all of us away.”

“We are all hanging on to memories of the man we once knew & hoping for the day he returns,” he continued. “You’re not healthy Dad & everyone is noticing it. Just like I showed up for you at mamaws funeral when you didn’t expect me to I’m still here right now.”

Meanwhile, on Saturday, Trace returned to Instagram to share Billy Ray’s alleged reaction to his post.

“Dad my message was beyond loving. I could have been extremely honest about a lot more but I don’t want to put your business out there like that,” Trace wrote. “But for you to threaten me with legal action for wanting you to get help is a disgrace.”

“Pappy is looking down at you with such disappointment I can assure you. You should be ashamed of yourself,” he added. “I will always love you but I no longer respect you as a man. Everyone close to you is terrified to tell you how they really feel. I’m not. Get help.”

Miley Doesn’t Want To ‘Get Involved’

While Miley stands in solidarity with Trace and her other siblings, she also doesn’t want to “get involved” in this “family drama.”

“Miley used to feel overwhelmed by the family drama. She worked hard to remove herself. She’s not about to get involved again,” an insider told People Magazine. “She’s in a great place now, she’s thriving and looking out for herself.”

This is clearly a very difficult situation for the entire Cyrus family. We can only hope and pray that they are able to reconcile at some point in the future.
