The country music star Billy Ray Cyrus is officially dating the former Austin Powers actress Elizabeth Hurley. Needless to say, this has come as a surprise to each of their respective fanbases!
Hurley Reveals She’s Dating Cyrus
Hurley, 59, revealed her relationship with Cyrus, 63, to the world by taking to Instagram to post a photo of them kissing on Easter Sunday.
“Happy Easter,” Hurley captioned the post alongside a heart emoji.
People Magazine has since confirmed that Hurley and Cyrus are officially dating. A source close to Cyrus said that the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer has actually known Hurley for years. They met back in 2022 while filming the movie Christmas in Paradise on location in the Caribbean.
“Liz is great and visited him for Easter. They’ve been seeing each other romantically for a little bit,” the insider said. “And how lucky is he? Liz is lovely. She’s very warm, positive and the best to be around.”
“They had a great time shooting that movie together — it was beautiful and relaxed, and it really stuck with him,” the source added.
Cyrus’ Tumultuous Love Life
This comes after years of turmoil for Cyrus when it came to his love life. He was married to Tish Cyrus, 57, and had five children with her before they separated in April of 2022. Cyrus quickly began dating the Australian singer Firerose, 36, and became engaged to her in August of 2022.
Cyrus and Firerose later married in October of 2023. The marriage quickly went downhill, however, and they divorced just seven months later in May of 2024.
Another source close to Cyrus told People that the singer is eager to move past all of this divorce drama. The insider believes that Hurley has been “amazing” at helping him do this.
“The divorce and drama put him down. It was depressing,” this source explained. “Liz is perfect for him to move on. And she won’t put up with any nonsense.”
Hurley’s Romantic History
Indeed, Hurley is no stranger to romance drama herself. She famously dated the Hollywood star Hugh Grant from 1987 until 2000. Their relationship was extremely high profile and quickly became tabloid fodder. In 1995, they made headlines for all the wrong reasons when Grant was arrested after being caught with a sex worker.
Though Hurley and Grant split in 2000, they remain close friends to this day.

Hurley would go on to date the late film producer Steve Bing later in 2000, with their relationship lasting about a year. She gave birth to their son Damian in 2002. He is her only child.
Hurley later married the Indian businessman Arun Nayar in 2007. They separated in 2010 and divorced the next year. In filing for divorce from Nayar, Hurley cited his “unreasonable behavior.” She has never married again in the years since then.
Given Cyrus’ country roots and Hurley’s posh British background, fans certainly would not have expected them to become a couple.
