The city of Los Angeles, California has descended into chaos as a series of wildfires rage nearly unchecked. This has impacted countless celebrities who live in the Pacific Palisades area, with many of them already losing their homes to the fires.
Scroll down below and find out some of the celebrities who have seen their homes burn to the ground this week. Be sure to keep them in your thoughts and prayers!
Mel Gibson
The Oscar-winning Hollywood star Mel Gibson has revealed that he lost his home in Malibu when he was in Austin, Texas filming Joe Rogan’s podcast earlier this week. He had lived in this home for the last 14-15 years.
“Obviously, it’s kind of devastating. It’s emotional,” admitted Gibson, 69. “You live there for a long time, and you had all your stuff. You remember George Carlin talking about your stuff? I had my stuff there, and it’s all like, I’ve been relieved from the burden of my stuff, because it’s all in cinders.”
“I was doing the Rogan podcast… And [I was] kind of ill at ease while we were talking, because I knew my neighborhood was on fire, so I thought, I wonder if my place is still there,” he continued. “But when I got home, sure enough, it wasn’t there. I went home and I said to myself, well, at least I haven’t got any of those pesky plumbing problems anymore.”
Gibson’s wife and son are safe, and he’s relieved that his beloved chickens somehow survived the fire. However, he also lost some personal items that he knows he can’t get back. Watch him talk more about this in the video below.
James Woods
The Oscar-nominated Hollywood star James Woods is mourning the loss of his newly renovated Pacific Palisades home. He and his wife Sara Miller-Woods spent years living in a hotel while their home was being renovated. They had only just moved back into it last month after the renovations were finally completed.
Woods, 77, couldn’t help but break down in tears as he talked about the loss of his home.
“Our beautiful little house,” a visibly emotional Woods told CNN. “We finally had it done, and we were swimming everyday and my blood pressure was going down. If you ever saw the views from that house before this fire, they were just… It was paradise. And our neighbors, we knew them all.”
“One day you’re swimming in the pool and the next day it’s all gone,” he added.

Paris Hilton
The DJ and heiress Paris Hilton, 43, lost her home in Malibu. On Thursday, she took to Instagram to post a shocking video showing the rubble of what used to be her home.
“I’m standing here in what used to be our home, and the heartbreak is truly indescribable,” Hilton wrote in the post’s caption. “When I first saw the news, I was in complete shock—I couldn’t process it. But now, standing here and seeing it with my own eyes, it feels like my heart has shattered into a million pieces.”
“This house wasn’t just a place to live— It was where we dreamed, laughed, and created the most beautiful memories as a family,” she continued. “It was where Phoenix’s little hands made art that I’ll cherish forever, where love and life filled every corner. To see it reduced to ashes… it’s devastating beyond words.”
As Hilton walked through the remains of her home, small fires could still be seen burning in certain places. Check out the video for yourself below.
Anna Faris
The former Mom actress Anna Faris sadly lost her home as well.
“Anna and her family are safe and very grateful,” a representative for Faris told People Magazine.
Faris, 48, bought the $4.9 million home in 2019 after her spit from the Marvel star Chris Pratt, with whom she shares a 12 year-old son named Jack.
TMZ obtained images that showed that there’s nothing left of Faris’ home. The swimming pool noticeably now has no water, probably due to the heat.
John Goodman
The former Roseanne star John Goodman, 72, is sadly another celebrity who has lost his home to the wildfires.
Goodman bought the mansion in Pacific Palisades for $4.6 million back in 2008. The 5,250 square foot home boasted five bedrooms and five bathrooms. Tragically, it has since been reduced to ashes by the wildfires.
It’s unclear if Goodman was there at the time of the fire, as his primary residence is in New Orleans, Louisiana. This comes amidst a difficult few months for Goodman. Back in June, he admitted that he “practically had a nervous breakdown” while discussing the fears he has over his recent career struggles.
Goodman has yet to speak out publicly about losing his home in the wildfire.

Mandy Moore
The This Is Us star Mandy Moore has revealed that her home in Altadena has burned to the ground.
“This is Altadena. Leveled. My sweet home. I am devastated and gutted for those of us who’ve lost so much. I’m absolutely numb,” she wrote on her Instagram Story alongside video of the damage.
Moore, 40, later took to Instagram to make a post expressing how grateful she is that her family is safe.
“Grateful for my family and pets getting out last night before it was too late (and endless gratitude to friends for taking us in and bringing us clothes and blankets),” she wrote. “Honestly, I’m in shock and feeling numb for all so many have lost, including my family.”
“My children’s school is gone. Our favorite restaurants, leveled. So many friends and loved ones have lost everything too,” she continued. “Our community is broken but we will be here to rebuild together. Sending love to all affected and on the front lines trying to get this under control.”
