The first trailer for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s new Netflix show Polo dropped at the end of last week. Unfortunately for them, however, they’ve been left humiliated as Hollywood executives and even their own friends are already slamming the show for being “tacky.”
Not a great start for the wannabe stars!
Meghan And Harry’s New Show
Meghan and Harry are named as executive producers in huge letters towards the beginning of the trailer. However, they don’t actually appear in it themselves. Instead, the three-minute trailer features characters who are virtually unknown outside the ritzy world of polo.
In one corny moment that appears to try to cash in on the royal narrative, a young player says he’ll be playing against his own father.
“I want to win against my dad,” the boy says.
Yawn.

Friends Rip Polo As ‘Tacky’
Unfortunately for Meghan and Harry, however, even people close to them are already ripping this series.
“It’s hilarious, but not in a good way,” one former friend who played polo with Harry as a teenager told The Daily Beast. “It’s so tacky and cringey, it is literally all the worst things about polo. I watched it in appalled hysterics.”
“The irony is that polo is actually a surprisingly inclusive sport these days,” another former friend added. “You do see plenty of rich kids but there are also plenty of kids from less rarefied backgrounds who just happen to be fantastic riders who are sponsored by the teams. It doesn’t look like this show is going to foreground that, which is a real missed opportunity.”
Hollywood Exec Torches Polo
One senior Hollywood executive chimed in to also blast this show.
“This looks like it has failed to capture the imagination,” the executive said. “They still have Meghan’s cooking show to screen next year but there is very little tolerance for pissing money away these days.”
“It’s debatable whether anyone cares about these two if they are not serving up outrageous stories about the royals,” the executive continued. “They are running out of last chances to prove that isn’t so. If they can’t, they could try to monetize their fame on social media. Plenty of people would still give Harry a million bucks for a post.”
Daily Mail columnist Liz Jones, who was a supporter of Meghan for years before finally turning on her recently, got in on the action as well, even hinting at racial tensions.
“What next? His own slot on the Shopping Channel?” she questioned. “How can Harry and Meghan possibly travel the globe, preaching about poverty and diversity and inclusion, when not one black player can be spied… the funds required to run a polo team doubtless outstrip that of Formula 1.”
“How can they lecture us about global warming when one player admits he flies to Argentina twice a week?” Jones added.

Social Media Users Weigh In
Making matters even worse for Meghan and Harry is that the social media users have flooded the comments section of their trailer with attacks on the series.
“Netflix, when are going to learn to stop Harry and Meghan’s madness!” one user commented. “I dropped you 2 months ago because of them. Been with you since 2016. STOP. They are fools and so are you.”
“My Netflix subscription ends in December,” a second user added. “After seeing this, I have no intention of renewing my subscription. I am disappointed with what Netflix offers, and this is a perfect example to me of how messed up Netflix producers are.”
“Oh, Netflix what have you done? You have been Markled!” a third person lamented.
It appears that four years after stepping down as senior royals and moving across the world to Hollywood to chase an entertainment career, Meghan and Harry are more unpopular than ever. In the end, this is the ultimate vindication for the royal family that they were so quick to abandon!
