Few things matter to Meghan Markle more than her reputation in Hollywood. Before marrying Prince Harry, Meghan tried for years to be an A-list Hollywood star. Though she eventually scored a role on the television show Suits, Meghan never became the Hollywood power player that she wanted to be.
After stepping down as senior royals back in 2020, Harry and Meghan moved back to her native Southern California. In the years since then, Meghan has desperately tried to kiss up to the elites of Hollywood. Unfortunately for her, however, it’s now become clear that her efforts to become relevant in Hollywood have all been in vain.
‘No One Cares’ About Meghan In Hollywood
Nick Ede, British TV host and public relations expert, told The Irish Times that “no one cares” about Meghan in Hollywood. He went so far as to say that Meghan has “no purpose” there.
“They’ve kind of been everywhere, but they haven’t really got a core audience,” Ede said. “No one cares.”
Which, anecdotally to this writer, rings true.
Ede went on to reveal what the A-list stars of Hollywood really think about Meghan and Harry.
“I remember being in LA, and I won’t name who it was, but a really big celeb was there going, ‘the thing is, we’ve got Beyonce, we’ve got Goldie Hawn…they’re our royalty. You know, we’ve got George Clooney, we’ve got Leo, like, we don’t really need these two,'” he recalled.
Meghan Has ‘No Purpose’ In Hollywood
As for what it takes to build a brand, Ede emphasized how important it is to have a purpose.
“People have to have a purpose,” he explained. “I think (Prince Harry) does, with the Invictus Games. But she hasn’t really got one. There’s no purpose there.”
Ede then said that just because someone gets five seconds of fame in Hollywood, it does not mean it’ll last.
“I equate it to when a reality star is on Dancing with the Stars or Big Brother, and you suddenly realize they’re going to be huge,” he concluded. “And, you know, the shoe brands go, right? They’re going to throw all like…Yeah, I’ll take every deal. And you see them everywhere, and then they kind of flop.”
This comes after it was revealed that Meghan’s brand American Riviera Orchard has not been doing well. This is reportedly due to negative online critiques as well as branding and staffing issues. Meghan even allegedly has been struggling just to find a CEO.
In a move that reeks of desperation, Meghan sent a limited supply of jams to various celebrities earlier this year. It appears that this did not go over well, with the former Vanity Fair editor Tina Brown claiming that Meghan has the “the worst judgment of anyone in the entire world.”
‘Tide Has Turned’ Against Meghan And Harry
Back in July, an insider told The New York Post that “the tide has turned,” against Meghan and Harry in Hollywood.
“People in America have been welcoming but they won’t like the way they’ve treated the late Queen and now the king,” this source explained. “Mostly, people I speak to say they either don’t like the Sussexes, or don’t care.”
Indeed, Queen Elizabeth was forced to spend her final years navigating Meghan and Harry’s antics. She died in 2022 at the age of 96.
It seems that Meghan’s dreams of popularity in Hollywood may never come true. Only time will tell if Meghan is ever able to bounce back from this!
