Meghan Markle, the wife of Prince Harry, is being slammed by one of her neighbors in the ritzy area of Montecito, California.
Meghan Blasted By Neighbor
Richard Mineards, who lives near Meghan, told Daily Mail that she is not an “asset” to the local community.
“I personally don’t think that Meghan is an asset to our community,” he said. “She doesn’t really go out or get involved with the community.”
“Harry has to a certain extent, because he’s quite jolly…but Meghan doesn’t seem to get seen anywhere…. And you don’t see him either,” Mineards continued.
This comes amidst reports that Meghan, 43, and Harry, 40, are planning to send their children Archie, 5, and Lilibet, 3, to a “prestigious” private school in the area. This will test just how involved they will really get in their community.
“They are the public couple that claim to crave privacy and that I suppose would involve the local community. But when you have young children, they all mix with other young children at schools or nurseries,” said royal expert Duncan Larcombe. “Are they going to play the role of just another parent?”
Meghan And Harry’s Montecito Move
Meghan and Harry stepped down as senior royals in early 2020. They then moved across the world to Southern California, where Meghan was born and raised. Meghan and Harry eventually settled in the celebrity hotspot of Montecito.
Stars like Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry have long called this area home. Ellen DeGeneres also lived in Montecito for many years with her actress wife Portia de Rossi of Arrested Development fame before they moved to the United Kingdom last month.
Unfortunately for Meghan and Harry, however, this isn’t the first time that they’ve been criticized by their Montecito neighbors. In July of last year, the 88 year-old Navy veteran Frank McGinity claimed that Meghan and Harry snubbed him when he tried to give them some films that he made about the history of the area when they first moved in.
“I have a big house next to Harry and Meghan’s property and I live in the guest house while renting the main house out on Airbnb,” he wrote in his memoir, “Get Off Your Street.”
“Harry and Meghan live on old McCormick property and I went up to their gate with the films on a CD, but they weren’t interested,” McGinnity added.
McGinnity went on to allege that he was turned away by a man at the gate, who “wouldn’t take the film, just saying, ‘They’re not interested.’ I was trying to be neighborly.”
“We don’t see them very much around here,” McGinnity concluded of the royal couple. “It’s surprising they came here. People are typically older. It’s where the elephants come to die.”

Harry Allegedly Misses The U.K.
Rumors have been swirling for years that Harry is unhappy in California and misses his life in the U.K.
“Inevitably, the honeymoon period where everything in the [United] States is new and exciting is coming to an end and Harry is looking back at the past through rose-tinted spectacles,” royal expert Tom Quinn told The Mirror earlier this year.
Quinn went on to say that Harry “misses” his British Army and college friends.
“Harry is determined to find his own permanent home in the UK, which is partly why he’s continuing his legal action to get the British taxpayer to pay for his security,” Quinn continued.
Only time will tell if Meghan is able to win over her new neighbors. For now, however, it seems that there is no love lost between them!
