Last month, we reported that the former talk show host Ellen DeGeneres had fled the United States and moved to the United Kingdom with her wife Portia de Rossi. DeGeneres reportedly did this after being “cancelled” in the wake of her infamous toxic workplace scandal.
Now, however, this move has backfired on DeGeneres, as her new home in the English countryside has been hit with major flooding.
DeGeneres Gets Bad News
DeGeneres, 66, and De Rossi, 51, are currently living in a multi-million dollar farmhouse in Cotswolds, a celebrity hotspot. Unfortunately for them, they are currently at the mercy of raging floods that have engulfed their new mansion.
Shocking images obtained by Daily Mail show that DeGeneres’ 43-acre property in the Cotswolds has become swamped in flood water. This is a result of the impact of Storm Bert, which caused days of torrential rain and winds of up to 80mph.
Just days after moving into their new home, DeGeneres and de Rossi were left virtually marooned after a tributary of the River Thames that runs beside the property broke its banks.
“The flood waters are rising by the hour,” said one of the couple’s neighbors. “This is the worst I have seen it in years.”

DeGeneres’ Mansion
Originally built as a farmhouse, DeGeneres’ British mansion was converted into a modern luxury home more than 15 years ago. Even so, it still has outlying barns that are connected to the main building via passageways.
The mansion boasts six bedrooms, four bathrooms, and a heated pool. It also has a five bay garage and a separate one bedroom cottage.
“It really is a beautiful house,” one source said of the home. “It’s so quintessentially English which as Americans they have fallen in love with, although they can forget about any glamorous southern California nightlife and weather.”
“The area itself is very quiet, some might even say boring as there’s not much to do, especially in the colder months but there are lots of celebrities in the area,” the insider added.
Cotswolds is a rural area of Southwest England that is located around 100 miles from London.
Other stars who call Cotswolds home include David and Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, Patrick Stewart, Elizabeth Hurley, Jeremy Clarkson, and Damien Hirst. King Charles himself even owns property in the area!

DeGeneres Flees America
Another source close to DeGeneres claimed last month that the comedian chose to flee America because of all the “ill will towards her.” This stems from her toxic workplace scandal.
“Ellen really felt she had made her mark on the industry, but that was diminished when she was cancelled over her alleged treatment of her staff,” this insider told The Mail. “Then to have celebrities call her out one by one was so hurtful.'”
“For Ellen, it’s easier to move away from her problems than to confront them,” the source continued. “It seems like a sad end to what she once was in people’s minds.”
Perhaps DeGeneres is seriously regretting this move now! In the end, she might have been better off if she’d just stayed in the states. Sad!
