Earlier this month, we reported that the Oscar-winning star Nicole Kidman and her country music star husband Keith Urban had separated after 19 years of marriage. At the time, insiders were claiming that Kidman was desperately “fighting to save her marriage,” and that she’d felt “blindsided” by Urban wanting to separate.

Hours later, however, Kidman, 58, officially filed for divorce from Urban, 57. This came amidst rumors that Urban had already moved on with a “new girlfriend.”

Urban Discusses Being ‘Miserable’

Daily Mail has obtained video in which Urban opened up about being “miserable” on tour immediately before Kidman filed for divorce. Indeed, Urban was on tour all summer while Kidman was in London filming the sequel to her and Sandra Bullock’s 1998 classic movie Practical Magic.

In the debut episode of the new CBS and Paramount competition series The Road, Urban admitted that life on tour has been far from easy for him as of late.

“Where do we start?” Urban said of tour life. “It’s a calling, and you’re going to do it or you’re not going to make it.”

“When you wake up on a tour bus at 3.30 in the morning and you’re sick as a dog, you’re in the middle of nowhere and you’ve got to play your fifth show later that night, and you haven’t slept, and you miss your friends, and you’re missing your family, and you’re completely lonely and miserable and sick – and you say to yourself, ‘Why am I doing this?'” he lamented. “The only answer can be: Because this is what I’m born to do.”

The Road

Urban shifted to talking about the competition itself, saying, “We’re going to find out who’s made for that stuff.”

The Road is set to follow twelve talented young musicians as they compete as opening acts for Urban all over America. The series is being executive produced by the country music star Blake Shelton and by the Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan. Gretchen Wilson has also signed on as tour manager.

“With exclusive access to behind-the-scenes workings of the music industry, viewers will see what happens when some of the best emerging musicians pile into a tour bus and tackle a grueling schedule in pursuit of their dreams,” the show’s official synopsis reads.

Urban And Kidman’s Divorce

This comes at a difficult time for Urban, as he’s divorcing Kidman after 19 years of marriage.

The former couple met in 2005 and married the next year in 2006. Unbeknownst to fans, they reportedly separated in June, a decision that was made by Urban.

Fans when their split was announced, as Urban and Kidman were long seen as one of the strongest couples in the entertainment world.

Those close to Kidman and Urban, however, weren’t surprised at all by the breakup. A source told People Magazine that the split “really hasn’t been a secret.” This insider added that Kidman and Urban have “been living separately for a while now.”

People close to Keith felt like the split was kind of inevitable,” the source explained.

Kidman ‘Didn’t Want This’

This was Urban’s first and only marriage. Meanwhile, Kidman was married to her fellow A-list Hollywood star Tom Cruise from 1990 until 2001. Their divorce was extremely bitter, which may explain why she was particularly so reluctant to split from Urban. Indeed, insiders have claimed that Kidman fought to save her marriage with everything she has.

“She didn’t want this,” a source told People Magazine after Kidman filed. “She has been fighting to save the marriage.”

Urban and Kidman are the parents of two teenage daughters: Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14. They’ve reportedly already agreed to a custody agreement.

Judging by Urban’s latest comments, it appears that he may have been unhappy in this marriage for quite some time. Please join us in saying a prayer for both Urban and Kidman as they navigate this new chapter of their lives!
