Hollywood star Kevin Costner, 69, was “blindsided” last year when his wife Christine Baumgartner, 50, filed for divorce after 18 years of marriage. Now, new reports are claiming that those close to Costner want him to date the A-list Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock, who has long been known as America’s sweetheart.

Bullock And Costner’s Respective Heartbreak

Bullock, 60, has not been dating since her longtime partner Bryan Randall died in August of 2023 after a private three year battle with ALS. Though Bullock is still in mourning, recent reports have indicated that she is open to dating again.

Meanwhile, Costner’s divorce from Baumgartner was finalized back in February. Since then, Baumgartner has moved on with Costner’s former friend Josh Connor, an affluent financier. Rumors are swirling that Baumgartner and Connor are already planning a walk down the aisle themselves, leaving Costner understandably devastated.

Costner was briefly linked to the singer Jewel, 50, after his split from Baumgartner. However, he is now said to be completely single.

Costner’s Friends Encouraging Him To Date Bullock

Though Costner and Bullock have each experienced heartbreak in very different ways as of late, those close to them think they are perfect for each other.

“Kevin and everybody around him know that a relationship with Sandra would solve a lot of problems for him,” a source told Radar Online. “Sandra is a naturally humble person who has never considered herself to be a ‘hot girl.’ But Kevin loves that he’s still a sex symbol against all odds and was really soaking up the spotlight in Cannes earlier this year with the red carpets and photo shoots.”

“Still, he’s turning 70 next year and he doesn’t have a long-term partner,” the insider added. “He’s got his older daughters, who are utterly devoted to him, but that’s not enough. He likes living with a woman.”

Costner’s History

Costner has been married twice. He first married his college sweetheart Cindy Silva in 1978 after they met while attending California State University, Fullerton. They were married for 16 years and had three children together: daughters Annie, 40, Lily, 38, and Joe, 36.

Costner and Silva divorced in 1994. This divorce proved to be a costly one for Costner, as Silva walked away with $80 million. Their split has gone down in history as one of the most expensive divorces of all time.

“My faith was shaken,” Costner later said of this divorce. “No one wants their marriage to end, and it did. You are going to see the people you love most, your children, only half as much. That’s a huge loss.”

Costner then married Baumgartner in 2004. They went on to also have three children: Cayden, 17, Hayes, 15, and Grace, 14.

Bullock Open To Dating Again

As for Bullock, she is the proud mother of two children. She adopted her son Louis in 2010, and her daughter Grace in 2015. While her kids remain her top priority, sources have said that she is ready to start dating again in the wake of her longtime partner’s passing.

“Sandra’s gradually reemerging into public life,” a source told US Weekly last month. “She’s excited about what the future holds. She’s ready to get back in the game.”
