In May of last year, the Hollywood star Kevin Costner was allegedly “blindsided” when his wife Christine Baumgartner filed for divorce after 18 years of marriage. A heartbreaking divorce battle ensued, and it went on until it was mercifully finalized back in February.
Now alone, Costner is speaking out to reveal what he is looking for in his next romantic partner. Read on, ladies!
Costner Sounds Off
“I had two unique relationships,” Costner, 69, told Fox News. “A person who wants to be loved, and they want to be, you know … feel like they’re at their very best. And that love helps that and doesn’t hinder it.”
Costner has been married twice. He first married his college sweetheart Cindy Silva in 1978 after they met while attending California State University, Fullerton. They were married for 16 years and had three children together before divorcing in 1994.
This divorce proved to be a costly one for Costner, as Silva walked away with $80 million. Their split has gone down in history as one of the most expensive divorces of all time.
“My faith was shaken,” Costner later said of this divorce. “No one wants their marriage to end, and it did. You are going to see the people you love most, your children, only half as much. That’s a huge loss.”

Costner Marries Baumgartner
After this split, Costner had a fourth child with his ex-girlfriend Bridget Rooney. He then met Baumgartner in 1998, and they married at his ranch in Aspen, Colorado in 2004. They went on to have three children: Cayden, 17, Hayes, 15, and Grace, 14.
In the wake of Costner’s split from Baumgartner, rumors swirled that he was dating the singer Jewel. Earlier this month, however, he shut these rumors down.
“”No, Jewel and I are friends,” he said. “We’ve never gone out, ever. She’s special, and … I don’t want these rumors to ruin our friendship because that’s what we have. She’s special to me. She’s beautiful enough to go out with.”

Costner Working On Horizon
These days, Costner is busier than ever in his professional life. He’s currently working on his four-part western series Horizon: An American Saga. The first movie is set to hit theaters on Friday and the second will be released later this summer. Meanwhile, the third film is currently in production, and Costner said that the filming process is “going well.”
“We’ve shot about 13 days of it, and we’re coming back in August to finish it off,” he stated. “I saw [Chapter 2] yesterday, and I’m really happy to be able to say that it’s just as good as 1, and maybe better.”
Last week, Costner sadly announced on Instagram that he will not be returning to his hit show Yellowstone to finish out the last episodes of the fifth and final season.
“I just wanted to reach out and let you know that, after this long year-and-a-half of working on ‘Horizon’, and doing all the things that that’s required, and thinking about Yellowstone – that beloved series that I love, that I know you love – I just realized that I am not going to be able to continue season 5b, or into the future,” he said.
