Earlier this month, we reported that the pop star Katy Perry was begging for a restraining order after a “transient” man repeatedly showed up at her mansion in Santa Barbrara, California. Now, Perry has finally gotten some much-needed good news from a judge.
Perry Gets Good News From Judge
On Monday, a judge granted Perry a permanent restraining order against a homeless man named Ross Elliott Hedrick. She sought this order after he repeatedly showed up at her home uninvited. Perry’s security team reportedly firmly believes that Hedrick will not take “no” for an answer.
New legal documents obtained by TMZ show that Perry, 40, filed a temporary restraining order against Hedrick, 43, on June 18. She also sought this protection for the former Lord Of The Rings star Orlando Bloom, who she described as her “partner.” Sadly, Perry and Bloom have since split after nine years together. They share a 4 year-old daughter Daisy, who lives with them at their Santa Barbara home.
Perry alleged that Hedrick visited her mansion multiple times in May. Though he was arrested after the first visit, he returned one week later.
According to Perry’s security team, Hedrick appeared to have an aerosol can and a butane lighter on his first visit. When he returned a second time, he threw a blanket over the “Firework” singer’s security gate. Screenshots from a Ring camera video that allegedly shows Hedrick on Perry’s property.
The security team said in the legal documents that Perry has good reason to be afraid of the threat posed by Hedrick. Indeed, they find it to be extremely likely that Hedrick will continue to try to contact Perry.
In the legal documents, Perry asked that Hedrick stay at least 100 yards away from her. He must also keep that distance from her properties, job, car and now-ex Bloom. It appears that the judge has granted that request on a permanent basis.
Perry’s Blue Origin Backlash
This comes after a rough few months for Perry. It all started when she travelled to space on the Blue Origin flight on April 14.
Perry was joined by CBS Mornings host Gayle King, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, filmmaker Kerianne Flynn, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen and Bezos’ fiancée, Lauren Sánchez. They spent just eleven minutes in space before returning to Earth.
Unfortunately for each of them, however, the mission has been met with tons of ridicule and backlash. Indeed, all of the women have been hit with backlash over the flight. However, Perry has taken the most heat by far. According to Daily Mail, Perry’s career has been “ruined” by this controversy.
Perry Responds
As the backlash reached its peak, Perry herself took to social media to address the hate that she’s been receiving.
“When the ‘online’ world tries to make me a human Piñata, I take it with grace and send them love, cause I know so many people are hurting in so many ways and the internet is very much so a dumping ground for unhinged and unhealed,” she stated. “What’s real is seeing your faces every night, singing in unison, reading your notes, feeling your warmth. I find people to lock eyes and sing with and I know we are healing each other in a small way when I get to do that.”
“I’m not perfect, and I actually have omitted that word from my vocabulary, I’m on a human journey playing the game of life with an audience of many and sometimes I fall but… I get back up and go on and continue to play the game and somehow through my battered and bruised adventure I keep looking to the light and in that light a new level UNLOCKS,” Perry concluded.

Perry Splits With Bloom
Things got even worse for Perry last month, when she split from Bloom after nine years and one child together.
“Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable,” a source told US Weekly at the time. “Katy is of course upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life.”
Perry was previously married to the British comedian and media personality Russell Brand from 2010 until 2012. Sources close to Perry have said that her split from Bloom was a long time coming.
“Katy and Orlando have been suffering through the same problems that have plagued them for years,” an insider told People Magazine. “[They had] too much going on in their lives, which makes it hard to find time for each other and iron out disagreements. When they don’t communicate properly, their relationship dips to a low level.”

After so many months of negativity, Perry was likely happy to get a win when the judge granted her restraining order. Here’s hoping that Perry can put all of this behind her and have a better second half to 2025!
