It’s been nearly three months since the pop star Katy Perry went to space. She did so for eleven minutes as part of Jeff Bezos’ all-female Blue Origin crew.

Unfortunately for Perry, this has since blown up in her face. Indeed, the mission has been met with tons of backlash. It’s even been reported that Perry’s career has been “ruined” by this controversy.

Now, things have gotten even worse for Perry. She’s desperately seeking a restraining order after a “transient” man infiltrated her property in Santa Barbara, California on at least two separate occasions.

Perry Requests Restraining Order

Court documents obtained by Entertainment Weekly show that Perry, 40, filed for a civil harassment restraining order in Santa Barbara against a man named Ross Elliott Hedrick. He is allegedly a “transient” man who showed up to Perry’s mansion uninvited back in May. Hedrick proceeded to return one week later. This time, he was arrested.

Perry is also seeking protection for her former partner Orlando Bloom, an actor best known for his role in the Lord Of The Rings movies. It was announced last week that they had separated after nine years together. Perry and Bloom, 48, are parents to a 4 year-old daughter named Daisy.

TMZ has obtained disturbing photos from Perry’s Ring camera at her residence. The images appear to show Hedrick’s alleged possessions on the “Firework” singer’s property. These possessions included an aerosol can and a butane lighter.

Perry was granted a temporary restraining order on June 23. It will expire on July 14. A hearing has been scheduled for that date to determine if Perry’s requests for more permanent restraining orders against Hedrick will be granted.

Perry ‘Upset’ After Break-Up

Perry is currently not at her Santa Barbara home, as she is traveling the world for her Lifetimes Tour. This tour kicked off in April, and it is set to last through December. Yesterday, Perry was spotted by Daily Mail with her daughter Daisy at the Sydney International Airport after finishing the Australian leg of her tour.

This marked the first time Perry was seen publicly since her split from Bloom was announced. In the days since going public with their breakup, Perry had been hiding out at a five-star vineyard retreat in South Australia.

“Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable,” a source told US Weekly. “Katy is of course upset but is relieved to not have to go through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life.”

Perry was previously married to the British comedian and media personality Russell Brand from 2010 until 2012.

Perry’s Blue Origin Backlash

This comes after a rough few months for Perry. It all started when she travelled to space on the Blue Origin flight on April 14. Perry was joined by CBS Mornings host Gayle King, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, filmmaker Kerianne Flynn, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen and Bezos’ fiancée, Lauren Sánchez. They spent just eleven minutes in space before returning to Earth.

Unfortunately for each of them, however, the mission has been met with tons of ridicule and backlash. Indeed, all of the women have been hit with backlash over the flight. However, Perry has taken the most heat by far. According to Daily Mail, Perry’s career has been “ruined” by this controversy.

Perry Responds

As the backlash reached its peak, Perry herself took to social media to address the hate that she’s been receiving.

“When the ‘online’ world tries to make me a human Piñata, I take it with grace and send them love, cause I know so many people are hurting in so many ways and the internet is very much so a dumping ground for unhinged and unhealed,” she stated. “What’s real is seeing your faces every night, singing in unison, reading your notes, feeling your warmth. I find people to lock eyes and sing with and I know we are healing each other in a small way when I get to do that.”

“I’m not perfect, and I actually have omitted that word from my vocabulary, I’m on a human journey playing the game of life with an audience of many and sometimes I fall but… I get back up and go on and continue to play the game and somehow through my battered and bruised adventure I keep looking to the light and in that light a new level UNLOCKS,” Perry concluded.

This has clearly been a very tough time for Perry in a wide variety of ways. We can only hope that she can put all of this behind her and have a better second half to 2025!
