Earlier this week, we reported that the pop star Katy Perry was left shocked and terrified when a fan ambushed her onstage while she performed in Sydney, Australia. This came after a difficult few months for Perry. Indeed, she has found herself being hit with tons of backlash for traveling to space as part of Jeff Bezos’ all-female Blue Origin space flight.

Now, Perry has been rocked by a major arrest regarding her horrifying incident in Australia.

Deranged Perry Fan Arrested

Sydney police have confirmed to Fox News that a man has been arrested and charged with two offenses after ambushing Perry onstage.

“The man was arrested by police and taken to Auburn Police Station where he was charged with two offenses – [entering] enclosed lands – not prescribed premises and [obstructing] person in performance of work or duties,” the Burwood Police Area Command said in a statement.

The unidentified man was granted conditional bail. He is next set to appear at Burwood Local Court on June 25. The man has also been given a six-month banning notice for the Sydney Olympic Park precinct.

Perry Ambushed Onstage

Perry, 40, was performing her 2008 hit song “Hot N Cold” in Sydney on Monday night when the man jumped onstage and ambushed her at around 9:20pm. The singer looked terrified as the man tried to put his arms around her.

Perry managed to move out of the man’s reach. He then jumped up and down repeatedly before performing the Fortnite dance. When two security guards tried to apprehend the male fan, he responded by trying to get out of their grasp. Finally, they were able to remove him from the stage and take him away.

Meanwhile, a visibly flustered Perry yelled to the audience, “Well, there’s never going to be another show like this. So just enjoy it, Sydney!”

“What the hell is going on?!” she continued to scream.

Perry’s Blue Origin Space Flight

This comes after a rough two months for Perry. It all started when she travelled to space on the Blue Origin flight on April 14. Perry was joined by CBS Mornings host Gayle King, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, filmmaker Kerianne Flynn, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen and Bezos’ fiancée, Lauren Sánchez. They spent just eleven minutes in space before returning to Earth.

Unfortunately for each of them, however, the mission has been met with tons of ridicule and backlash. Indeed, all of the women have been hit with backlash over the flight. However, Perry has taken the most heat by far. According to Daily Mail, Perry’s career has been “ruined” by this controversy.

Perry Responds

As the backlash reached its peak, Perry herself took to social media to address the hate that she’s been receiving.

“When the ‘online’ world tries to make me a human Piñata, I take it with grace and send them love, cause I know so many people are hurting in so many ways and the internet is very much so a dumping ground for unhinged and unhealed,” she stated. “What’s real is seeing your faces every night, singing in unison, reading your notes, feeling your warmth. I find people to lock eyes and sing with and I know we are healing each other in a small way when I get to do that.”

“I’m not perfect, and I actually have omitted that word from my vocabulary, I’m on a human journey playing the game of life with an audience of many and sometimes I fall but… I get back up and go on and continue to play the game and somehow through my battered and bruised adventure I keep looking to the light and in that light a new level UNLOCKS,” Perry concluded.

Getting ambushed by a deranged fan onstage is a true nightmare for any performer. That’s why we’re glad that an arrest has been made. Here’s hoping that Perry never has to deal with anything like this again!
