The city of Los Angeles, California has descended into chaos as a result of raging fires. With countless Californians losing their homes, many are wondering how the blazes started in the first place.
The former Happy Days star Henry Winkler has offered his own shocking theory, and it was noticed enough that the LA Fire Department has since issued a response.
Winkler’s Theory – LA Fire Department Responds
“THERE IS an ARSONIST here in LA,” Winkler, 79, wrote on social media.
“May you be beaten you unrecognizable !!!” he continued. “The pain you have caused !!!”
Winkler’s post immediately went viral. In fact, it spread so quickly that the LA Fire Department felt the need to respond. One official told TMZ that “there’s no way to know at this moment exactly where and how the series of fires started, but an investigation is underway.”
The official went on to say that while the LA fire team investigating the fires’ origins is known as the “arson squad,” this is not indicative of arson. Instead, the arson squad investigates every major fire in the city.
Fans, however, are not convinced. Indeed, many commented on Winkler’s post by agreeing with him.
“I’ve been watching all day and night,” one fan commented. “How is it possible for the fires to keep jumping for miles and miles. How did the Hollywood Hills fire start? I’m starting to wonder if it is arsonists or terrorists or both.”
“You are right in a way,” a second fan wrote. A third stated, “Arsonist or terror attack – there’s no way fire’s just combust from nothing when winds are in a different direction and/or they’re popping up that far apart.”

Arson Suspect Arrested
On Thursday night, an arson suspect was arrested near one of the fires that was burning around homes in Calabasas and West Hills. Police received a call at around 4:30pm about a man trying to start a fire.
“We were sitting in the backyard and suddenly, we hear a car come to a screeching halt and the guy is running out saying, ‘Stop! Drop what you’re holding! Neighbors, he’s trying to start a fire! Call 911!’” witness Renata Grinshpun told KTLA.
Grinshpun went on to say that she and her neighbors teamed up to surround the suspect as they waited for police to arrive. They saw that he had what looked to be a large “propane tank or a flamethrower.” One of her neighbors allegedly saw him trying to light whatever he had on fire behind a vehicle.
“We really banded together as a group,” Grinshpun recalled. “A few gentlemen surrounded him and got him on his knees. They got some zip ties, a rope and we were able to do a citizens’ arrest.”
