It’s been two months since we reported that the legendary former Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson had passed away. He died at the age of 79 following a grueling battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Now, Phil’s powerful yet heartbreaking final words have been revealed by his son Willie.
Phil’s Powerful Final Words
“Phil had been struggling with Alzheimer’s for a while,” Willie, 53 ,told TV Insider. “It was on our mind for sure, his condition. It’s part of life.”
“Phil had such a strong faith. He told us before, ‘Do not cry at my funeral. I know where I’m going,'” he continued. What a life he lived. We heard that from thousands of people, the people he impacted.”
These ended up being Phil’s final words before he left this earth. While what he said is truly powerful, it’s also heartbreaking, as we wish that Phil was still here with us. However, it can’t be denied that Phil’s final words sum up who he was perfectly, as he was a true man of God.
Robertsons Honor Phil’s Wishes
Willie believes that his father would be proud of the way the family has handled his passing, particularly when it comes to filming their new reality show Duck Dynasty: The Revival.
“Phil would have wanted us to do exactly what we’re doing,” Willie explained. “Whatever is a reflection of that faith, and our show is a reflection of our faith. Not overtly.”
“We’re not trying to preach to people or convert people, but I think you can see the fruit in the faith of our show and our family and how it sticks together through good times and bad,” he added. “That’s why we are on this earth. As we move on, I think it’s a reminder to all of us the time will come. I hope I have a funeral like that where people feel that way about me as well.”
Duck Dynasty: The Revival Honors Phil
In this same interview, Willie’s beloved wife Korie, 51, chimed in to admit that the timing of Phil’s death was surreal.
“Our show came out the week Phil passed. It was really special to our family that we had that one little clip,” Korie recalled. “When filming this time around, he was already in the throes of Alzheimer’s, so he wasn’t able to be part of the show.”
“We did film that one little thing where he gave Willie the thumbs up,” she acknowledged. “It was really special because for our family it felt like, okay, this is his opportunity to pass on the torch to us.”
Phil died on May 25, 2025. Duck Dynasty: The Revival premiered exactly one week later on June 1. In the premiere episode, the series paid a brief but touching tribute to Phil. It featured Willie sitting in his armchair and reading off his laptop to Phil.
“So ladies and gentlemen, start your engines. Only one will earn the bandana, so let the games begin. What do you think, Phil?” Willie asked. Phil proceeded to answer with a thumbs up.
“Ah, that was awesome!” Willie replied with a laugh. The screen then faded to a black and white photo of Phil alongside the in-memoriam tribute.

Robertsons Will Continue To Honor Phil
Willie concluded his latest interview by saying that Duck Dynasty: The Revival will continue to honor Phil in a variety of ways in future episode.
“As the show grows, there will be a big show about Phil’s passing,” Willie revealed. “That will be reflected through an entire show of craziness as well.”
“We do some nutty things in his honor and also just honor him,” he added. “There are some good moments after finding out about his passing and the show starts. You’ll see that in season 2.”
Phil is survived by his beloved wife Kay, who he was married to for nearly 60 years. He is also survived by their four sons, and also by a daughter from another relationship.
Phil Robertson was a true legend, and there will never be another one like him. In the end, his final words perfectly sum up the true man of God that he was.
Rest in peace, Phil Robertson.
