The infamous Scott Peterson, who is serving a life sentence after he was convicted of murdering his wife Laci and their unborn child back in 2002, was beaten up by a fellow inmate in prison on Sunday.

Peterson Beaten Up

Peterson, 52, was enjoying a game of pickle ball (must be nice!) at Mule Creek State Prison in California when another inmate became enraged by his playing style. So it was not an instance of “prison justice,” but prison politics!

Sources told TMZ that the prisoner was set off when Peterson smashed the ball directly at his body during their match. This inmate then let his frustrations be known by beating Peterson up right in the prison yard.

Peterson suffered various unspecified injuries in the altercation. However, he was not injured enough to need to go to the hospital.

Peterson was accused of murdering his wife Laci on Christmas Eve back in 2002. At the time, she was 8-months pregnant with a son who they planned to name Connor. Laci was initially reported missing from the home that she and Scott shared in Modesto, California.

It wasn’t until April of 2003 that her body was found in the San Francisco Bay. Laci and her unborn child were found just a few miles from where Peterson told police that he had gone fishing on the day of her disappearance.

Peterson’s Arrest

Peterson was arrested days after Laci’s body was found. At the time of his arrest, he was just 30 miles from the Mexican border. Peterson had bleached his hair blond when police caught up to him. In his vehicle, he had $15,000 in cash, a baggie filled with Viagra pills, camping gear, and four cellphones. Needless to say, it looked to police like he was trying to flee the country.

Peterson was later convicted of the first-degree murder of Laci and the second-degree murder of the couple’s unborn son, Conner, in 2004. Despite all of the evidence against him, Peterson has always claimed to be innocent.

“[I]f I have a chance to show people what the truth is, and they are willing to accept it, it would be the biggest thing that I can accomplish right now — because I didn’t kill my family,” he said in a 2004 interview.

Peterson Death Sentence Overturned

Peterson was initially sentenced to death for these murders. However, the California Supreme Court overturned his death sentence in 2020, ruling that his jury was improperly screened for bias against the death penalty. Peterson was then resentenced to life without the possibility of parole in December 0f 2021. This means that he’ll potentially have to enjoy plenty of pickleball games on the dimes of California taxpayers.

Peterson spoke out for the first time in decades last year when he was interviewed for Face to Face with Scott Peterson, a three-part docuseries on Peacock. Once again, he claimed that he did not murder Laci and their unborn child. Unfortunately for Peterson, however, it doesn’t seem like anyone is buying that.

At least Scott Peterson has pickleball to pass the time. God bless America!
