We previously reported that the Oscar-winning Hollywood star Angelina Jolie was preparing to flee America after her bitter eight year divorce battle with Brad Pitt finally ended. Last month, we reported that Jolie was publicly bashing America, saying that she doesn’t “recognize” the country anymore.
Now, insiders are saying that Jolie is “ready” to leave America behind. Indeed, she’s reportedly actively making plans to move abroad.
Jolie Is ‘Ready For A New Chapter’
Jolie, 50, has spent the past eight years fighting it out with Pitt, 61, in their grueling divorce battle. She had filed for divorce in 2016, but it wasn’t finalized until December of 2024.
Now that Jolie and Pitt’s youngest children, twins Knox and Vivienne, are set to turn 18 in July of next year, the former Girl Interrupted star is finally free to leave the country. Indeed, this is reportedly something that Jolie has desperately wanted to do for quite some time.
“I would love to live abroad and will do so as soon as my children are 18,” Jolie said in a 2019 interview.
Sources are saying that Jolie is currently actively making moves to make that dream a reality.
“You can really feel a shift in Angelina recently; she’s lighter and more at ease,” an insider told US Weekly. “She’ll always love L.A., but she feels it has served its purpose. She’s ready for her next chapter.”
“She’s very excited for this next phase of her life,” a second source added.
Where Will Jolie End Up?
The second insider went on to say that Jolie will likely split her time between Cambodia, France, and various countries in Africa.
“She has dear friends in all of [those areas] who she considers confidantes and family,” the second source explained. The first insider chimed back in to say that Jolie “loves being in cultures that inspire her. Angelina thrives when she’s outside of Hollywood.”
Jolie herself has been open about this.
“I’ve always lived internationally, my family is international, my friends, my life,” Jolie previously said.
Jolie is currently in London filming her new Netflix movie Anxious People. Moving forward, Jolie is planning to direct and produce more movies abroad.
“Angelina will be back and forth to L.A. for work but won’t call L.A. her home,” said the second source. According to this insider, Jolie is aiming to put her $24.5 million Los Feliz mansion on the market in September of next year.
“She’s ready to dive deeper into directing and producing,” claimed a third source.
Jolie’s Humanitarian Work And Motherhood
When she isn’t working on movies overseas, Jolie reportedly plans to focus on her humanitarian work.
“She plans on giving back to communities in Cambodia, Vietnam and Africa, and she’s open to exploring more of the world and raising awareness and continuing her work with the U.N.,” shared the second source. “She’s looking forward to being around like-minded people.”
Jolie will also never be far from her six beloved children. She’s mother to Maddox, 24, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and 17 year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.
“The kids will most likely keep roots in L.A. for their careers, but they will spend time with Angelina wherever she ends up as well,” the first source stated. “The children are all very creative and take after their parents [in that] they love all aspects of filmmaking and the arts.”
“Angelina’s children are a really big force that will lead her [depending on] their interests and where they choose to live,” said the second source. “She knows she’s going to be very busy keeping up with them after she leaves L.A.”
While she has many other interests, motherhood has always been Jolie’s first priority.
“She’s very immersed in her kids and in their interests right now,” the second source continued. This source then said that Jolie takes after her own mother, Marcheline Bertrand, who tragically died in 2007. “Angelina’s mom invested so much in her, and Angie’s doing the same for all of her children.”
Jolie Bashes America
This comes after Jolie made headlines last month by bashing America publicly.
“I love my country, but at this time, I don’t recognize my country,” Jolie, 50, told Variety. “I’ve always lived internationally, my family is international, my friends, my life… My worldview is equal, united, and international.”
“Anything anywhere that divides or limits personal expressions and freedoms from anyone, I think, is very dangerous,” she continued. “These are such serious times that we have to be careful not to say things casually. These are very, very heavy times we are living in together.”

Jolie’s ‘Life Is Coming Full Circle’
In the end, Jolie’s friends are happy to see that she’s returning to her old self.
“[Jolie] feels like her life is coming full circle [to who she was] pre-Brad,” the second source added. “She spent so much time devoted to her passions, including humanitarian work and flying, and while she was married to Brad, a lot of that stopped. She was raising her family, and Brad wanted her to cut back on flying. Now, her freedom allows her to connect with her true self again.”
These days, it appears that Jolie is firmly focused on the future.
“Angelina is in a much better place,” the first source said. “She’s not dwelling on the past or carrying any baggage, and has worked through a lot of the trauma over the years by doing healing work [and] a lot of therapy. There’s a joy about her that people haven’t seen in years.”
“She has been through so much,” the third source concluded. “For now, she’s just focusing on her career and her kids. She’s found herself again, and it feels good.”
Only time will tell if life outside of America will be everything that Jolie hopes it will be. It will certainly be interesting to see where she ends up!
