Over the past few years, many A-list celebrities have fled America in favor of moving abroad. Now, the Oscar-winning Hollywood star Angelina Jolie is reportedly planning to join their ranks. This comes after her grueling eight year divorce battle with Brad Pitt finally came to an end back in December.
Jolie Eager To Flee America
An insider told People Magazine that Jolie, 50, is planning to “put the house up for sale” as she prepares to move abroad. This source added that Jolie “never wanted to live in L.A. full time. She didn’t have a choice because of the custody arrangement with Brad.”
Jolie and Pitt, 61, are parents to six children: Maddox, 24, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 17.
The source went on to say that Jolie “plans to relocate as soon as Knox and Viv turn 18 next year. She’s eyeing several locations abroad. She’ll be very happy when she’s able to leave Los Angeles.”
Referring to Jolie’s home in Los Angeles, the insider stated that “it’s a historic masterpiece and truly such a beautiful estate.”
Jolie bought the mansion, which was build in 1913, back in 2017 for $24.5 million. The massive home boasts six bedrooms and ten bathrooms across 11,000 square feet. It was previously owned by the legendary film director Cecil B. DeMille. Jolie is reportedly planning to sell the mansion after making some minor changes to it.

Jolie Has Long Wanted To Leave Los Angeles
Jolie’s desire to flee Los Angeles may come as a surprise to some, given the fact that she was born and raised there. Indeed, she is the daughter of the Oscar-winning star Jon Voight, 86. Jolie is believed to be have been estranged from Voight in recent years. Her mother was the late actress wife Marcheline Bertrand, who died in 2007 at the age of 56 after a battle with ovarian cancer.
Despite this, Jolie has long been open about her wish to leave Los Angeles. In 2024, Jolie told The Hollywood Reporter that she was only still in Los Angeles “because I have to be here from a divorce.”
Jolie added that she wants to live abroad because she wants to give her family a way of life that they simply can’t get in Los Angeles.
“When you have a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace, safety,” she explained at the time. “I have a house now to raise my children, but sometimes this place can be … that humanity that I found across the world is not what I grew up with here.”
As for where she plans to go when she leaves Los Angeles, Jolie replied, “I’ll spend a lot of time in Cambodia.”
Jolie notably adopted her oldest son Maddox from Cambodia in 2002.
“I’ll spend time visiting my family members wherever they may be in the world,” she concluded.
Jolie And Pitt’s History
Jolie and Pitt met on the set of the 2005 movie Mr. And Mrs. Smith. At the time, Pitt was still married to the former Friends star Jennifer Aniston. They soon split and he began dating Jolie.
Jolie and Pitt went on to marry in 2014 in a ceremony at their vineyard Château Miraval in rural France. Jolie then filed for divorce just over two years later. She filed for divorce days after a private jet flight in which she alleges that Pitt was abusive to her and their six children. Pitt denied her claims. However, all six children took Jolie’s side and have since effectively cut Pitt out of their lives.
Jolie and Pitt’s extremely bitter divorce battle went on for eight long years as they fought over custody, property, finances, and more. Though it was mercifully finalized in December of 2024, Jolie and Pitt are still embroiled in a legal battle over Château Miraval.

Many celebrities are eager to flee America because they are whining about liberal politics. However, it seems like Jolie has better reasons for being eager to try out living abroad. It will certainly be interesting to see where Jolie ends up in the years to come!
