Last month, we reported that the Oscar-winning Hollywood star Angelina Jolie was preparing to flee America after her bitter eight year divorce battle with Brad Pitt finally ended. Now, Jolie is publicly breaking down in tears as she seemingly continues preparing to make this international move.
Jolie Breaks Down In Tears
Video obtained by Entertainment Weekly shows Jolie, 50, crying at the world premiere of her new movie Couture at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival. While taking questions from the audience, Jolie was asked to share her advice for anyone who has lost a loved one to cancer.
In the movie, Jolie plays a woman who is battling breast cancer. Sadly, Jolie also lost her mother Marcheline Bertrand to breast cancer back in 2007. Bertrand was 56 years-old at the time of her passing.
“I’m very sorry,” Jolie told the female audience member, who revealed that she’d recently lost a friend to cancer.
“I think I will say that, one thing I remember my mother saying when she had cancer, she said to me once, we had had a dinner and people were asking her how she was feeling and what she was doing. And she said, ‘All anybody ever asks me about is cancer,'” Jolie recalled.
“So I would say, if you know someone who’s going through something, ask them about everything else in their life as well,” she continued. “They’re a whole person, and they’re still living.”
Jolie became visibly emotional as the audience applauded her powerful response.

Jolie’s History With Cancer
Jolie is the daughter of Bertrand and the Oscar-winning Hollywood star Jon Voight, 86. Bertrand was initially diagnosed with ovarian cancer back in 1999. This was the same year Jolie played her Oscar-winning role in Girl Interrupted. Bertrand was later diagnosed with breast cancer, eventually passing away in January of 2007.
This partly led to Jolie undergoing genetic testing herself to see what her chances of developing breast cancer were. She ultimately learned that she had a “faulty gene” called BRCA1. Doctors gave Jolie an 87 percent risk of breast cancer and a 50 percent risk of ovarian cancer.
Because of this, Jolie underwent a preventative double mastectomy in 2013. Jolie later revealed in a New York Times oped piece that the procedure decreased her chances of developing breast cancer to under five percent.
One of the reasons that Jolie elected to get this double mastectomy was to assure her six children that she would be alive for many years to come.
“I’m 50 now. My mother and grandmother by this age were in chemo,” Jolie said at the Couture premiere. “We all have these things we worry about or people we love. And it’s either going to make us slow down and almost feel we can’t move, take a step, or we’re going to make the most of this life before it’s over.”
Jolie Planning To Leave America
This comes one month after insiders claimed Jolie is preparing to move abroad. Though she filed for divorce from Pitt in 2016, their divorce wasn’t finalized until December of 2024. Now that their youngest children are turning 18 next year, Jolie will finally be free to leave the country as she wishes.
An insider told People Magazine in August that Jolie is planning to “put the house up for sale” as she prepares to move abroad. This source added that Jolie “never wanted to live in L.A. full time. She didn’t have a choice because of the custody arrangement with Brad.”
Jolie and Pitt, 61, are parents to six children: Maddox, 24, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 17.
The source went on to say that Jolie “plans to relocate as soon as Knox and Viv turn 18 next year. She’s eyeing several locations abroad. She’ll be very happy when she’s able to leave Los Angeles.”
Though she was born and raised in Los Angeles, Jolie has long been open about wanting to leave the California city. Last year, she told The Hollywood Reporter that she was only still in Los Angeles “because I have to be here from a divorce.”
Where Will Jolie Go?
As for where she plans to go when she leaves Los Angeles, Jolie replied, “I’ll spend a lot of time in Cambodia.”
Jolie notably adopted her oldest son Maddox from Cambodia in 2002.
“I’ll spend time visiting my family members wherever they may be in the world,” she concluded.
Many celebrities are eager to flee America because they are whining about liberal politics. However, it seems like Jolie has better reasons for being eager to try out living abroad.
We applaud Jolie for being so open with her emotions surrounding cancer at the premiere of her new movie Couture. It will certainly be seen to see where life takes Jolie in the future!
