‘Jeopardy! History’

This has been a difficult few years for “Jeopardy!” after the death of Alex Trebek, who hosted the beloved game show from 1984 until he died in 2020 at the age of 80 following a battle with pancreatic cancer.

“‘Jeopardy!’ is saddened to share that Alex Trebek passed away peacefully at home early this morning, surrounded by family and friends,” the program posted on social media at the time. “Thank you, Alex.”

After Trebek’s death, a series of guest hosts took over “Jeopardy!” before showrunners eventually landed on Jennings and Mayim Bialik as permanent co-hosts of the show. Jennings was previously a contestant who won 74 games in a row, a record for the show, and Bialik is an actress best known for starring on the sitcom “The Big Bang Theory.”

“It’s just a very intense adrenaline experience you kind of chase for the rest of your life,” Jennings said of hosting in 2022, according to Fox News. “And when the games get really good out here, when the players are really cooking, and it’s intense, and it’s close, I kind of feel like I’m in there playing, you’re part of the game. You’re part of the show. There’s this transcendent thing that happens where the audience is locked in, and I just look for that.”

Bialik Fired

Unfortunately for Bialik, however, she revealed back in December that she’d been fired from her job as a co-host of “Jeopardy!,” leaving Jennings as the sole host.

“As the holiday break begins in Hollywood, I have some ‘Jeopardy!’ news. Sony has informed me that I will no longer be hosting the syndicated version of ‘Jeopardy!'” Bialik announced at the time. “I am incredibly honored to have been nominated for a primetime Emmy for hosting this year and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of the ‘Jeopardy!’ family.”

With Jennings now the only host of “Jeopardy!,” he’ll be the person hosting “Jeopardy! Masters” next month. Be sure to check it out if you’re a fan of the iconic game show!

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
