Ever since we lost Alex Trebek at the end of 2020, Jeopardy! has had a steady rotation of guest hosts. One of them is “Blossom” and “Big Bang Theory” actress Mayim Bialik. Bialik’s run hasn’t been without controversy. But there is talk that she is emerging as the front runner to replace Trebek, a move she is behind.
Via Fox:
“I like to say, I’ve lived season to season, since I was about 13 years old. So, what I know is I’m hosting until May 6, and beyond that, hopefully.”
I’m sure it is her dream to become a permanent host. But I think there is no replacing Alex Trebek, and Jeopardy! should continue to rotate hosts.
Keep The Guest Rotation Going
Joining Bialik in guest hosting this last season has been super champion, Ken Jennings.

Since Trebek’s passing, other guest hosts have included:
- Aaron Rodgers
- Katie Couric
- Savannah Guthrie
- Sanjay Gupta
- Dr. Oz
- LeVar Burton
- Joe Buck
- George Stephanopoulos
- Robin Roberts
It appears that the producers have focused on Bialik and Jennings as the permanent guest hosts. And while a lot of online chatter indicates Bialik will become the full-time host, I think the producers should continue the quest host trend for a few reasons.
Alex Trebek Is One Of A Kind
Alex Trebek stood out as a universally beloved person in this perpetually online world where no one can seem to avoid cancellation and controversy.
His legacy should remain as the final full-time Jeopardy! host. No one can replace him because no one will reach the heights he built over his nearly 40 years of hosting the show.
Guest Hosts Can Boost Ratings
I know I would be more likely to watch a few episodes if someone unique was hosting for the week.
Why not make the guest host a forever fixture of the show? I know I would love to watch a new host every week. Instead of replacing Alex Trebek, they can bring their own flair and stamp to the hosting duties.
What Do Fans Want?
According to Twitter, fans are divided on who they want as a permanent host, with a few people pointing out they want Jennings to get the nod.
Just saw that Mayim Bialik wants to be the permanent host of Jeopardy. In a word NO. As woman I generally root for all women but she is should not be the host of Jeopardy. Please keep Ken Jennings!
