Whoopi Goldberg Admits To Taking Weight Loss Drug Mounjaro After Hitting 300 Ibs – ‘That’s What I Use’

During Tuesday’s episode of her ABC talk show “The View,” Whoopi Goldberg admitted to taking the weight loss drug Mounjaro after ballooning to 300 pounds back in 2021.

Goldberg Admits To Taking Weight Loss Drug

Daily Mail reported that Goldberg, 68, made this confession while defending Oprah Winfrey for touting the weight loss drug Ozempic and defending her decision to use it during her new ABC weight loss special, “Shame, Blame and the Weight Loss Revolution.”

“I will tell you, you know, I weighed almost 300 pounds when I made Till,” Goldberg admitted. “I had taken all those steroids, I was on all this stuff and one of the things that has helped me drop the weight is the Mounjaro… That’s what I use.”

This led to Goldberg’s co-host Sunny Hostin, 55, making a similar confession, revealing that she turned to Mounjaro after gaining 40 pounds during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“All I did was eat…  I love to cook and I found out I love to eat and I was horrified by the fact I would have to come out on here, I was,” Hostin said. “I also took Mounjaro and I got all these nasty emails and things.”

“‘[They said]: “You’re too skinny and… you’re taking it away from diabetics,'” she continued. “So there is shame when you’ve gained weight. I had never experienced that kind of shame before and what I loved about what [Oprah] said is obesity is a disease, right?’

“What I will say is if someone has diabetes and they’re being treated for diabetes it’s fine,” Hostin added. “When someone has some sort of cardiac disease, that’s fine. They’re not shamed for it but when someone is obese, they are shamed for it.”

“I found my cholesterol went up to 200 when I gained the extra weight and I used Mounjaro and my cholesterol is 140 now,” Hostin concluded. “I feel better, I look better and that’s what it is about.”

Goldberg Tells Fans To ‘Stop Judging Everybody’

Later in the segment, Goldberg called on her audience to “stop judging everybody” over their appearance.

“Maybe that’s the key,” she stated. “Because, listen, when I realized how much I had put on, because… I always felt like me. And then I saw me and I thought, ‘Oh, that’s a lot of me.'”

“And my weight has come and gone up and down but it’s never been an issue for me because I don’t listen to what other people say about me, so it has never been a problem,” Goldberg concluded. “But I think it’s very hard for people to just know what a normal weight would be.”

Oprah Admits To Taking Ozempic

Oprah shocked the world back in December when she admitted to taking Ozempic to lose weight.

“It was public sport to make fun of me for 25 years,” Oprah told People Magazine. “I have been blamed and shamed, and I blamed and shamed myself.”

Oprah went on to say that since she started taking Ozempic, she feels “stronger, more fit and more alive than I’d felt in years.”

“I eat my last meal at 4 o’clock, drink a gallon of water a day, and use the WeightWatchers principles of counting points. I had an awareness of [weight-loss] medications, but felt I had to prove I had the willpower to do it. I now no longer feel that way,” she continued. “I was actually recommending it to people long before I was on it myself.”

Oprah has since resigned from the WeightWatchers board, saying that she did so because she wanted to “talk about whatever I want,” according to Fox Business.

“I decided [to leave the WeightWatchers board] because this special was really important to me, and I wanted to be able to talk about whatever I want to talk about,” Oprah said. “And WeightWatchers is now in the business of being a weight-health company that also administers drug medications for weight. I did not want to have the appearance of any conflict of interest.”

Many would argue that Goldberg, Hostin, and Oprah have taken the easy way out in turning to weight loss drugs to drop some pounds. Only time will tell if they are actually able to keep their pesky pounds off!

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
