It’s been one month since the country music star Toby Keith passed away at the age of 62 after a lengthy battle with stomach cancer. On Saturday night, the singer Post Malone, 28, honored Keith in a beautiful way by performing his 2005 hit “As Good As I Once Was” while sipping on a red solo cup.

Daily Mail reported that while performing a the American Rodeo in Dallas, Texas, Malone raised a red Solo cup of beer and took a drink in a reference to Keith’s 2011 song “Red Solo Cup.” He then performed Keith’s 2005 hit single “I Ain’t As Good As I Once Was,” and it immediately went viral.

“‘As Good As I Once’ Was RIP @Toby Keith,” Malone captioned the post when posting it to TikTok.

“Rest in peace to Toby Keith, ladies and gentlemen,” Malone said in another video of the concert as the crowd cheered.

Keith’s Death And Cancer Battle

Fans were devastated when Keith’s family announced in a brief statement that he had died on February 5.

“Toby Keith passed peacefully last night on Feb. 5 surrounded by his family,” their statement read. “He fought his fight with grace and courage. Please respect the privacy of his family at this time.”

Keith is survived by his wife, Tricia Lucas, and their three children, daughters Shelley Covel Rowland, fellow singer Krystal Keith and son, Stelen. He’s also survived by four children and millions of adoring fans.

Keith was diagnosed with stomach cancer back in 2021. Just days before his death, he opened up about his cancer battle.

“I was going through all the chemo, radiation, surgery, and I got to the point where I was comfortable with whatever happened,” he told 9News. “I had my brain wrapped around it, and I was in a good spot either way.”

Keith went on to call his wife “the best nurse.”

“Oh, she’s been a trooper. She’s the best nurse,” he said. “The first time we went to Houston, to the hospital, she stepped right in and she just took control and said, ‘We got this. Let’s go.’ So she’s like, ‘We’re going to get this and don’t worry about it.'”

Keith revealed that he was also leaning on his Christian faith to get through his cancer battle.

“Cancer is a roller coaster,” he admitted. “You just sit here and wait on it to go away — it may not ever go away.”

Tributes To Keith Pour In

Tributes immediately poured in for Keith after his death was announced.

“Toby Keith was a patriot, you know, and he did not care who had a problem with it,” the country music star John Rich told Fox News.

“Waking up to the terrible news that our friend, and legend @tobykeith has passed away from cancer,” Rich later added on social media. “He was a true Patriot, a first class singer/songwriter, and a bigger than life kind of guy. He will be greatly missed.”

Blake Shelton, whose career was helped by Keith decades ago, honored Keith as well.

”Even though I knew about your battle these last few months I still never imagined this day,” he said, according to NBC News. “Anyone who knew you knows what I mean. You were the toughest man I ever met. Thank you, brother, for being a friend, a hero and an inspiration. There will never be another Toby Keith.”

Keith was a true legend, and there will never be another one like him. God bless Malone for reminding the world that he will never be forgotten!
