Dolly Parton Drops Bomb – Reveals Beyoncé Has Recorded ‘Jolene’ Cover

The country music star Dolly Parton dropped a bomb on Monday when she revealed that the singer Beyoncé has recorded a cover of her hit song “Jolene.”

Parton Reveals Beyoncé Recorded ‘Jolene’ Cover

Daily Mail reported that Parton, 78, initially released “Jolene” back in 1974, and she has just revealed that Beyoncé, 42, will be featuring a cover of the song on her upcoming country album.

“I think she’s recorded ‘Jolene’ and I think it’s probably gonna be on her country album, which I’m very excited about that,” Parton said. “I love her! She’s a beautiful girl and a great singer.”

“We’ve kind of sent messages back and forth through the years,” Parton continued. “And she and her mother were like fans, and I was always touched that they were fans, and I always thought she was great.”

Beyoncé will be releasing her first country music album “Renaissance II” on March 29. She already released her first two country songs “16 Carriages” and “Texas Hold ‘Em,” the latter of which hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Afterwards, Parton spoke out to voice her support for Beyoncé entering the country music world for the first time.

“I’m a big fan of Beyoncé and very excited that she’s done a country album,” Parton said in a statement posted to Instagram. “So congratulations on your Billboard Hot Country number one single. Can’t wait to hear the full album!”

Beyoncé Slammed For Trying To Do Country Music

Not everyone has been so supportive of Beyoncé foray into country music. The former “Dukes of Hazzard” star John Schneider went so far as to compare her to a urinating dog for trying to take over the country music world.

“The lefties in the entertainment industry just won’t leave any area alone, right?” Schneider was asked in a recent interview. “They just have to seize control over every aspect, don’t they?”

“They’ve got to make their mark, just like a dog in a dog walk park. You know, every dog has to mark every tree, right? So that’s what’s going on here,” Schneider replied.

In response, Grio published an op-ed that made this all about race by titling it, “Beyoncé is making a country album. White people like John Schneider need to get over it.”

“Let’s understand that ‘lefties’ in this case isn’t a political statement; it’s a euphemism for a word I can’t type here, but it starts with an ‘N’ and ends with a hard ‘ER,’” the op-ed read.

Parton’s Rock Album

Parton’s support of Beyoncé isn’t all that surprising, given the fact that she is no stranger to switching musical genres herself. Last year, Parton released her first rock album Rockstar, which topped Billboard’s Top Country Albums and Top Rock & Alternative Albums charts following its November debut, according to Entertainment Weekly.

“Dolly Parton joined forces with some of Rock music’s most legendary artists along with today’s biggest stars for her first-ever Rock album, ‘Rockstar,'” Parton’s official website states. “Inspired by her 2022 induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Dolly teamed up with an all-star roster of musicians for the 30-song collection which includes 9 original tracks and 21 iconic Rock anthems.”

Only time will tell how Beyoncé’s interpretation of Parton’s “Jolene” will go over with true country music fans. It will certainly be interesting to see how this goes for her!

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
