Joy Behar just took a snarky dig at her ABC talk show “The View” for inexplicably firing her back in 2013.

Behar Takes Shot At ‘The View’ Over Firing

Behar, 80, was one of the original hosts of “The View” when it premiered back in 1997, and though she was fired in 2013, she was brought back two years later and has remained on the show ever since. While discussing the death of Tina Turner earlier this week, Behar unsurprisingly made the conversation all about herself.

“There’s something about her. I’ve been on this show for 26 years, right, with a small hiatus as we all know — forced,” Behar said with a slight pause for the audience to laugh. She added that “for some reason, this death has gotten me in my kishkas.”

“I don’t know what it is, something about her that she just got to me, I could start crying right now,” Behar concluded.

Behar ‘Happy’ To Be Fired From ‘The View’

Earlier this year, moderator Whoopi Goldberg took issue with an interview that Behar gave to Time Magazine last year in which she claimed she was “happy” to be fired from the show.

“I always have friends where I work, and if I don’t have friends at the job, I will not keep the job,” Behar explained. “So, when I was fired last time from this show, people say to me, ‘Were you okay with that?’ and my answer is, I was happy, because all my friends had left already. So, there was no reason to stay anymore. I mean it.”

Goldberg, who was already a co-host on “The View” at the time that Behar was fired, asked her incredulously, “Really? All your friends left?” She then pretended to cry as she joked, “It’s okay, I’m cool.”

“You had just come on, and my backstage friends had left. And I don’t like to work when I don’t have friends,” Behar said as she tried to defend herself. Goldberg fired back by saying that they had “been friends for a long time,” though she added that she was only “teasing” her.

Behar Opens Up About Her Firing

Behar previously admitted that it wasn’t her decision to leave “The View” when she was fired back in 2013.

“Somebody wanted me gone,” she told People Magazine in 2017. “It was not 100 percent my choice.”

“When they told me they weren’t renewing, I said, ‘Good, I’m out of here.’ I didn’t like the way the show was going at that time,” Behar continued.

Behar went on to say that she was never given a straight answer as to why she was fired.

“The way I heard it, and I don’t know what’s true because you never know, they got rid of a Republican so they wanted to get rid of a Democrat,” she said. “That’s not the first time I’ve been fired for my politics. So I wasn’t shocked at that analysis.”

Now that Behar is firmly back in the saddle on “The View,” she has no plans to go anywhere, as she said after her 80th birthday last year that she has “no plans” to retire. Based on her latest comments on her firing, however, it seems that it still hits a nerve with her!
